Hey, have I ever mentioned to the Commentariat that I like Peugeots? Because I do.

(I hate French cars. I love Peugeots. The result is severe self-loathing.)

So remember every time you are grinding pepper onto your 72oz steak that you are supporting the French auto industry. I hope I just ruined steak for everyone.

Hey they finally just rejoined NATO, after realizing the Cold War is in fact over and they don't have to surrender, give them some credit.

May I remind you of a few ? how about the 205 1.9 GTi ? the 106 GTi ? the 206 RC ?
I am disappointed in you sir; repent for what you have said tarnishes your "Crazy Euro Car Boy" handle.

The Lion has been on the Peugeot family's seal for something like 200 years.
Thankfully they announced they'd be giving up the cat-face look for the newer cars...

Same goes for all the other French "things" as well. I don't understand why Renault doesn't make something truly awesome. They clearly have the know-how if you look at F1 for instance. But all they make are dull commuter "things."

The design is questionable, the engines are dull, the reliability is questionable. The price compared to, say a Japanese car in the same class, is questionable if you take into account the reliability - or anything basically.
If I were choosing some mid-class right now, I'd definitely look at Toyota, Honda, Ford or even Opel before looking at all the French cars.
What if one of the French rally car makers put together a team of engineers and made a real competitor against the Lancer Evo or Subaru WRX? Think about all the good publicity they would get for that? I would definitely choose the questionable French styling over the not-so-questionable, hideous Japanese cartoon styling. And this is from a non-4WD guy. I'm not even an Audi guy. But I would seriously consider a powerful 4WD Peugeot, for instance.
I will admit I'd rather have a Clio than a Yaris or Ka or whatever. Other than that though..

However, I don't think any of the french car makers ever aimed to make "commuter thing", and every single little french econoshitbox has some kind of responsibly priced sporty, fun variant.
As for Rallying, Citroen is the reigning WRC Champion, and has been for something like 6 years in a row (S Loeb in his Xsara than C4).
But good call on the Clio.

He wants a new R5 Turbo based on the F1 engine or a 207 WRX or something.

WTF?
This could have been an interesting piece. A waste of some interesting hood ornament pictures.
