Unfortunately, the plate and a glitch in a parking ticket system led to him receiving $19,000 in erroneous tickets (H/T to Tempesjo!) [Blog.Al.Com]

<![CDATA[Science Determines How Fast Until Parking Tickets Fly Off Your Windshield]]> Scientific tests by Detroit News auto critic Scott Burgess indicate a parking ticket cannot stay attached to your windshield at 83 MPH. His advice? If you park your car, make sure it's going 83 MPH to never get another one.

<![CDATA[Bad Parking Job? Try These Passive-Aggressive Parking Tickets]]> People with below average and downright horrible parking etiquette are everywhere. Rather than retaliate in a way that would wind your short-tempered ass in jail, give them one of these passive-aggressive, yet still straight-to-the-point parking tickets instead.

Packaged and printed in a glossy, heavy card stock stack of 20, you'll have enough of these great little 'tell 'em offs' for at least month, unless you're horribly anal and in that case maybe you're the one with the problem and not everyone else as you'd like to think (Now go sit in the corner and think about what you've done!). <![CDATA[NYC Cops Repeatedly Ticket Parked Dead Guy]]> George Morales probably died in his minivan of a heart attack in early May, parked under the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway underpass. That didn't stop NYC cops from writing him parking tickets for the next couple of weeks.

According to Jennifer Morales, her father had been incomunicado since the beginning of May. She'd even reported his disappearance to the NYPD, but it wasn't until recently he was discovered dead in his minivan. A city marshal discovered George in his Chevy Venture as he was attempting to tow the car away due to the load of tickets which had been issued for repeated parking violations. You stay classy New York. (Hat tip to Chad!) [WCBS TV]

<![CDATA[You Can't Pay Speeding Tickets With $206 In Urine-Soaked Coins]]> Everyone hates paying tickets — speeding, parking or otherwise, but Michael Harold Lynch of Bellevue, Washington really hates it. Hates it so much he mailed the courthouse $206 in urine-soaked coins as payment.

Lynch was nabbed in Portland, Oregon doing 19 MPH over in a 35 MPH construction zone which brings with it a hefty $206 fine. After failing to pay the fine in a timely manner and missing his court date, an additional $65 was added as a late fee and notice was provided to Mr. Lynch. That's when a very heavy box showed up at the courthouse. Lynch had collected $206 in small change, put it in a sealed plastic bag and urinated in the bag, sealed it up, and sent it on it's way.

When courthouse workers opened Mr. Lynch's surprise, they got the "joke" right away. They also got the sheriff on the phone who called the U.S. Postal Inspector to determine if any laws had been broken. Apparently, if properly packaged to prevent leakage and odor, there are no laws against sending bodily fluids through the US Postal System and Lynch wouldn't be getting in trouble with the Feds. The Multnomah County courthouse wasn't interested in accepting payment in such an odoriferous condition though, and sent it back, COD. Payment is still outstanding. [Oregon Live]

<![CDATA[Fiat Uno Racks Up Largest Parking Ticket Ever]]> A Fiat Uno belonging to a deported immigrant has been slapped with a $26,110 fine after being left in a short-term parking space in Austria for two years.

The Romanian citizen, now residing in France, was forced to abandon the crappy Fiat, likely worth less than $1,000, when immigration officials nabbed him and deported him out of the country. The car then sat in the space for two years thanks to a local law that bans the towing of vehicles not obstructing traffic. When officials tracked him down and asked him to pay the bill, the man understandably refused. The city now plans to declare the parking space a construction site, which will legally enable them to tow the car. Hooray for the efficiency of bureaucratic laws! [via Austrian Times]

<![CDATA[Meter Maids Plan Holiday Strike In Toronto, Rejoice!]]> Christmas may come early in Toronto as the unionized workers of the parking authority are planning to go on strike this December 20th. Is this a good thing?

It may be a sweet deal for those wanting to avoid getting a ticket for parking wherever they want but Mark over at Autophiles.ca sees what the Local 415 is up to. Without the parking authority towing cars or writing tickets there could be anarchy in the streets. This is especially true in the days before Christmas as people rush to the stores for last-minute gifts. We're looking forward to seeing the streets littered with parked cars.

<![CDATA[Car Thief Gets Parking Ticket, Owner Gets Fine]]> A victim of car theft in Washington DC is being pestered by a collection agency to pay up on an 18-month-old parking ticket written while the car was on it's leave of absence from its rightful owner. Steve Steinberg has vowed never to pay the $205 fine and is wondering why the car didn't come up as stolen when the ticket was being written — a fair question if you ask us. Of course the local officials are blaming the fine on Steinberg's lack of action on the ticket, but of course that doesn't stand up when the old boy waves a fist full of letters he sent to the DMV on the subject. <![CDATA[D.C. Street Sweepers Giving Out Parking Tickets]]> Think it's embarrassing getting a parking ticket from the sweet old meter maid? Soon you'll have a new foe. Street sweepers in the Washington, D.C. area will be equipped with the means to scan and photograph cars parked in street sweeping zones. The bill to equip the street sweepers was passed unanimously in the D.C. city council. A final vote will happen next month that will make the tattle-telling street sweepers a reality.

We always thought it was pretty obvious when a car was parked in a street sweeping zone. You know that line of trash that perfectly outlines the car from the sweeper going around—yeah, that's a pretty obvious clue. Regardless, keep track of the signs and times in D.C., or you will soon be busted by a tractor sized broom vehicle. [Washington Times] (Image)
