You have to have some serious self confidence to think to yourself designing a front engined pushrod powered top level sports car prototype is a good idea in the 21st century. Not only that, but to be really the only car to beat the R8 in its prime and do it on a budget that was about equal to Audi's catering budget, is just about one of the most beautiful things ever.

This car deserves a national holiday.

I think this is the version that when it debuted had the minor issue of the aero being set up so that it tried to pull the driver's helmet off at speeds over about 120. I believe they finally figured that out.

Is that a Ferrari F1 car next to it?!

Those cars were brutes in the best sense of the word. Seeing, and hearing, them blast around Road Atlanta all those years was a great thing.
