”P. Diddy Involved In Very Expensive Fender Bender
Looks like Sean Combs went and got into a little bit of a multi-vehicle accident, resulting in some very high-priced steel getting bent out of shape in the process. At the very least, a Rolls Royce Phantom and aVolvo 1800S Joins Its Amazon Brethren At East Bay Junkyard
Not long after undertw rescued a bunch of parts from a Volvo Amazon featured in this series, another old Volvo has been put out on the same yard. This is no run-of-the-mill Amazon, however- we're looking at a genuine Volvo 1800S (I'm going to say it's a '63, based on the grille) with plenty of good components ready for the picking.Want A 5-Speed Crown Victoria?
We all thought transplanting the drivetrain from a Lightning F-150 into a 2000 Ford Crown Vic was pretty cool, but some Panther owners might want to take on a less ambitious project that still makes our cars a lot more fun to drive. Say, grabbing the T-45 transmission out of a Mustang and installing it in a Panther, for example. Ford never saw fit to put a manual in the Panther, so it's not a straight bolt-in; that's why it's great to have the scoop from someone who's already solved all the problems involved with such a project. We've seen a very good how-to for those wishing to de-slushbox-ize their GM G-bodies, and now dRock96Marquis has put together a comprehensively documented and illustrated guide to doing the same with a 2003 Crown Victoria. [CrownVic.net]Suzuki SX4 First American Car Under $16K With Standard Nav, Take That SYNC
Ford has been able to move a lot of their crappy Focus coupes and sedans with their Ford SYNC powered by Microsoft entertainment system, which does everything but let you forget you're driving a Focus. But, as we mentioned, Microsoft and Garmin have teamed up to provide systems for other automakers. The first car to get this treatment standard is the FWD Suzuki SX4 sport/crossover, which clocks in at under $16K (the AWD version is slightly higher than $16K). The new system, called TRIP, will offer Microsoft Network features such as real-time traffic, weather, local event listings, bluetooth integration, audible text messaging and up-to-date cheap gas finding. Our favorite available feature is the community website that will let all users input their own destinations, routes and POI and share them with others. An early picture of the system above, press release below. More »

Not doing anything in the beginning of April? Want to see James Glickenhaus' Pininfarina-designed Ferrari P4/5? Feel like going to Bahrain? Now's your chance to scratch all those itches at once. Glickenhaus is heading to the U.A.E. for the 2008 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix on April 4th-6th. It's an event we're told will "play host to a mouth-watering array of machinery celebrating Ferrari's sixty years as a constructor of Formula One and sports racing cars." And oh yes, he's bringing his P4/5.

Sean "P. Diddy" Combs To Launch Car Service For Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Other Drunk Celebs
P. Diddy is reportedly launching a car service for drunk celebs needing a ride home. Nope, it's not an article from "The Onion," nor is it yet April Fools Day. That must mean this story's true. If it is, well, these jokes really do just write themselves. Hit the jump for the full story — all three sentences: More »

Garage419 Talks P4/5 With James Glickenhause At Palm Beach Supercar Weekend
If we were obscenely rich car owners, we hope that we'd be obscenely rich in the vein of James Glickenhaus, owner of the one-and-only Ferrari P4/5. As opposed to shutting cars away in garages merely to accrue value, the Glickster takes his unique vehicles outdoors where they accrue lust from car nuts like us. In the meantime, we'll just have to live vicariously through him in this interview from Garage419, which includes a great discussion of downforce-inducing exhaust designs. [Garage419]

I thought about maybe sticking with French Car Hell for another day (by the way, the pair of Citröen SMs manhandled the Simca 1000 like Burt Reynolds slapping around his Maserati-owning girlfriend in yesterday's poll), but the descent into Isuzu Pun Hell in yesterday's racing I-Mark post can mean only one thing: All-Isuzu PCH today! You see? You see what happens? You make Isuzu puns, you get Isuzu projects!

Simca P60 Aronde Cotomer Sevis
We're beginning to wonder if this blogging may be the wrong business to be in. Like, maybe there's better money in fielding weird requests from the worlds automotive eccentrics. Alan Berj writes to us with a request. It seems he's the owner of a 1959 Simca P60 Aronde and he's getting nervous about a long interval between shop visits. We would be worried too, shop time with a French car should be as regular as a well fed goose. In that spirit, Alan is asking us to put him into contact with the Simca factory, just in case he should be needing parts soon. As opposed to our usual response of sarcasm and vitriole, this time we were actually intrigued enough to try and help, mostly because Simca has been out of the auto business since 1979. So Alan, below you will find a copy of your email, along with some useful Simca contact information. More »

How to React If Pulled Over by an Unmarked Car
In theory, anyone can get an old Interceptor and some strobes or a plug-in cherry and start pulling people over. While unmarked cops in most places are encouraged to call in a marked radio car to handle the stop, that doesn't always happen. We constantly see people getting popped in the Chi by mustachioed men in dark blue P71's. It may not be worrisome in the middle of the day on Michigan Ave, but it could be downright creepy on a lonely road in the dark of night with your family. Below are some guidelines for how to react:More »

If you were on a roadside picnic in Sweden in the mid-1950s, you and your basket lunch of herring in reindeer sauce may have been transported in one of these. It's the Volvo Duett, a wagon also known as the P445. The perfectly restored model, complete with wood-slat cargo area, took center stage at Volvo's Tokyo show display, reminding us that quirk once existed in material form, not just in the minds of advertising executives.

It looks like the Sterling just wasn't able to dump as much weight on both sides of the hell/cool scale as the Impulse in yesterday's Choose Your Eternity poll, with the Isuzu vaporizing the Rover by a 4-to-1 vote-ratio landslide. Today we're going north for our cars. Way north. Yes, just like Yngwie on an airliner, you'll unleash the focking fury with either one of these fine Scandihoovian projects.

GTO vs. GTS
Thomas Magnum takes on a pair of armed yahoos in a Goat and winds up ending the chase in a most unfortunate manner. Neither the Fezza nor the Poncho are injured, but fans of Mk. 1 Golf/Rabbits may want to avert their eyes.
1968 Volvo P1800
As many old cars as there are on the streets of Alameda, the imports can be hard to find. It was nice to spot this solid P1800 right in my neighborhood.

Diddy to Buy F1 Team?
Oh yikes. Sean Combs, after spending some time hanging out with Lewis Hamilton, has floated the idea of purchasing a Formula 1 operation at a dinner celebrating the launch of his new perfume, Unforgiven. Of course, 100k of the 150,000-quid dinner was spent on champagne, so who knows how many sheets of carbon-fiber weave Diddy actually was. Meanwhile, McLaren says they totally didn't rip off Ferrari. Planes, Hydroplanes and, Er, Planes
Through the glorious bounty of YouTube, we've dug up this episode of Clarkson's old Extreme Machines series, wherein a more-frotastic, younger Jezza flies around in a P-51, bombs across Lake Mead in a hydroplane and then checks out luxo-pimp options in jet travel.
