    I dont' see why you would want to waste time tuning a car like the 599GTB. I mean, Ferrari obviously takes a lot of care to make the best car possible. And some people at Novitec think they can just improve on it? I mean, sure it's great but does anyone really need an extra FORTY hp out of this thing?

    @Volvo_4_life: Honestly, I don't think Ferrari make the best car possible. There must be things that could be done better, but wouldn't be financially viable. That's where high end tuners enter. Brabus is a nice example of that. AMG used to squeeze that extra out of Benzes. Now, Brabus, Lorinser, Carlsson, Renntech and others are doing that role. We'll always need MOAR POWAH!

    EDIT: I was going to include a "Resistance is futile" but was afraid of out-nerd myself. But who cares, resistance IS futile.

    @Syrax: H-Click for that. People who love cars often forget the company is supposed to make money too.

    I would also add that in addition to cost reduction, some areas of performance are compromised for safety, drivability, NVH, and reliability (if you could call a Ferrari reliable). That's why some of the more hardcore stuff is left to limited production runs, or left to tuners.
