NOPI Drag and Drift Qualifier in Dallas

NOPI Motorsports is taking the straight and sideways line together by combining its drag racing series with drift action. While the NOPI drift announcement was made last fall at SEMA, the reality starts this weekend with drift qualifying at the Texas Motorplex in Dallas. The Motorplex will host qualifying for the NOPI Professional Drift Series, and first round of 2007 NOPI Drag Racing Association mayhem. The very first combined NOPI Drift and Drag event is scheduled for March 17th and 18th at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona. This weekend's drift qualifying will be hosted by Drift Fury. All NOPI drag racing, drifting, burnout contests, and bikini clad NOPI representatives will soon be on SPEED Channel and iTunes for viewing amusement. – Mike Bumbeck

The NOPI Nationals are like a tuner porn-freak's dream come to life, and although we weren't able to make it down there a few weeks back, our wandering photographer Zerin's got all the goods. Heck, he's even provided us a NSFW gallery of our own to host over here of the bikini contest (every auto show should have one of these — just because). But let's lay down the ground rules on this SFW/NSFW adventure. There's three links below. In addition to the NSFW gallery we've got hosted ere, there are also two galleries below hosted on Zerin's site. One gallery is pictures of cars. The other gallery is not. One gallery is safe for work. The other is not. If you're at all confused, signal your flight attendant via the comments and she'll stop by and strangle you with her floss-like bikini.

We're Totally Going To NOPI Next Year! Some Hotlanta Booty Shake

We didn't make it down to this year's Atlanta NOPI Nationals motorsports supershow this past weekend at the Atlanta Motor Speedway (cause we totally had plans to go, right — but like every time we try, we get waylaid in some way), to check out the 7,000 cars in attendance this year, and do some people-watching, what with the 100,000+ plus people we're told were in attendance. Although, we're glad to see the folks at Dash Performance continued their world-renowned ability to provide some family-friendly entertainment — you know, for kids. Maybe we'll have to head down to the Ohio show — to do some "research" on the performance parts industry.

Jalopnik Gets Cold, Old, Misses Drags on The Strip

We intended to check out the Yahoo! Custom Autos/NOPI heads-up race in front of the venerable Frontier on the Las Vegas Strip the second-to-last night of the SEMA Show. We really did. We sauntered over from the Stardust, met a group of friends over outside Gilley's, attended the poolside outdoor pre-party, consumed a fair amount of industrial-strength Folgers-esque brew and and waited for the 3am kickoff of the drags. Alas, one by one, our friends buggered off for sleep.

By the time Chris Rado and Paul Efantis squared off for the 500-foot runs in their parking lot-constructed Evos, we'd left an hour before, tired of the bad music, bro-hams and the cold, deciding instead to head off in search of some of Vegas' ahem other attractions with the two die-hard pals of ours who remained. Thankfully, the NOPI folks wrote it up on their site, so we can bask in all of the ragged glory of blown head gaskets, boost-cut issues, and thrown rods. Oh, and in case you didn't feel like showing up either, Rado's team won.

The Dubspeed boys trod where your friends here at Jalopnik were afraid to venture deep into the Dirty South to catch Atlanta's NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow and its blend of bikinis, booty, customized compacts and burning front-wheel rubber. Their gallery is so stupid-large we didn't even get through a tenth of it, but if tuner cars are your thing, here's your own little slice of pixelated heaven.
