What to expect? Well, each of these will carry it's own oil well! And each oil well will produce more oil than the huge shit-heap can consume. UGH... gasp..
@Gustavus Cougar: But the truck paradigm isn't how much can it consume, but how much can it help produce. Ford Truck Division's future stability is a key element in the revival of the housing market.
It won't loolk @toyotadiesel: The current F-150 doesn't offer a manual either. Sad fact is, not many people want them anymore. At least, not enough to make it financially smart to offer a manual.
Although my Dad (who has had Ford trucks since his new 1954 F-300 "Big Job") refuses to buy a new Ford truck for lack of a manual. As much as I like manuals, I think my love for Ford would over-power my love for a stick-shift.
Manny the tranny thought it uncanny wanted a truck but got stuck with a car drove it far drove it wide it gave him feelings in his brain took the car back said to the man, "Jack this ride's all wrong not wide, not long I need something mighty" Jack said "All righty step 'round to the back see this on the rack it's got what you need that's muscle and speed" Manny said "Good!" and as he stood next to the new mount and began to count the dollars to pay Jack off for the day to take his new ride and drive it with pride he slid inside and took hold of the parts twisted the key to see how it starts He shook the lever to feel its fall and thought "Never be a recall on this fine fellow it's sturdy and mellow Drive 'im well, Manny! You can't blow this tranny." So he kicked off his heels and pointed his wheels Manny had his passion for trucks and cross-dressing fashion.
@layabout now with V8 power: Did you see Jeremy Clarkson's review of the Lightning from a few years ago? It was bizarre watching an American pickup driving around the English countryside.
Those Lightenings are awesome, and I'd think worth that kinda money.
I saw a nice Harley F-150 in Germany, and it sure was out of place, in a cool way.
What's funny is those trucks are still tiny in comparison to a crew cab HD like mine, by about 3K lb's. However, it seems there are far less people into boats, sandtoys, etc over there that really need to tow. Is the towing predominately for horse trailers and the tiny campers, which people tow with impossibly small cars?
@rlj676-Carbon Footprint Size - Clownshoe: Most people here use Land Rover or Mitsubishi Shogans for towing, owners of American trucks keep them in top near show car condition & wouldn't think of using them to tow anything. The crew cab trucks like you have are even rarer, altough i've seen one near my girlfriends parents house.
@rlj676-Carbon Footprint Size - Clownshoe: Correct,it is a Pajero. The ones sold in the U.K. were badged Shogan, although there are plenty of imported Pajeros here too.
Curious George wants to know how many Super Duties were sold with the manual trans? I can't imagine its very many considering a decent percentage of these trucks are for fleet use.
In other news, in my sleep deprived state I read "manny tranny" and giggled. Then I though of "blown manny tranny" and thought of this one night in Cologne.
I run (and by run I mean sit at a desk and tell people to do things while surfing Jalokniks) a light to heavy duty truck repair center and all we see are manny tannys. Most companies that buy these things want to save as much money as possible. For your dollar there is no better deal than a manny tranny (chuckles to self).
@aSoundofSleep: @jaydez: I guess that answer's the question. It makes sense. You save a bunch on both purchase price and maintenance, assuming your crew knows how to drive a manual trans and isn't burning through a clutch every 12000 miles.
@OldeEnglishD: Nah, Greenpeace needs large trucks to tow their boats so they can harass oil tankers, platforms, etc.
SUVs on the other hand are a completely different story. They epitomize a level of evility only surpassed by George Bush, Karl Rove and Dick Cheney (aka Cerberus to the greenies).

thought it uncanny
wanted a truck
but got stuck
with a car
drove it far
drove it wide
it gave him feelings
in his brain
took the car back
said to the man, "Jack
this ride's all wrong
not wide, not long
I need something mighty"
Jack said "All righty
step 'round to the back
see this on the rack
it's got what you need
that's muscle and speed"
Manny said "Good!"
and as he stood
next to the new mount
and began to count
the dollars to pay
Jack off for the day
to take his new ride
and drive it with pride
he slid inside
and took hold of the parts
twisted the key
to see how it starts
He shook the lever
to feel its fall
and thought "Never
be a recall
on this fine fellow
it's sturdy and mellow
Drive 'im well, Manny!
You can't blow this tranny."
So he kicked off his heels
and pointed his wheels
Manny had his passion
for trucks and cross-dressing fashion.

I believe you guys can import the diesels (I'm sure it is very expensive)?
I've seen pics of a guy in the UK with a lifted 2500 D-max similar to mine, and it must really stand out over there.

You can get them from around £7.5k,but they're hard to find.

I don't know what a Shogan is, but that is a cool name.
Is it a Montero Sport over here, or Pajero I believe elsewhere? I remember seeing quite a few Pajeros in London when I was there.
