@Ambiguously Unfunny Serial Killer: Too much ball kicking opposed to football where they only have kick-offs, punts and field goals. In football they have a lot of passing and running. Understand? Jeez, you guys!

@c0de: According to Ford this out handled a 4wd prototype at the 'ring & found the extra costs & weight made it not worth while with 4wd. It'll be interesting to see how it handles. No doubt there will be fwd haters that think they know better without even driving one.
@layabout met the real Santa: anyone who generalizes like that is an automatic ass, there are pros and cons to fwd, awd, and rwd. each is a different monster that needs to be tackled differently.
Interesting.. they've managed to kingpin axis almost in the center of the tire tread.. almost.. while reducing the offset.. not bad, but yet.. wonder why they re-invented the mcpherson strut setup instead of just going with a proven design like a multi-link which can put the kingpin axis directly in the center of the tread and while maintaining an extremely small kingpin offset..
I also hope there is a compression arm of some sort that isn't shown to control fore-aft movement during braking/turning/accel.
@WheatKing: Well it's only a basic diagram, there are others on the interweb that show more detail. From the reviews i've read from the people that have driven the car it all sounds impressive.
1 they did attempt to make a AWD using the Volvo running gear and a 280BHP ST but the driving experience was not edgey enough and it did not handle as well as you would have expected
2 If the car had been AWD it would have attracted a much higher road tax in the UK (due to the extra weight) which is the biggest market the car has been designed for. As it stands the car is only 225g/co2 which is 1 gram higher than the current ST.
3 The cost of the AWD system meant that the car would not have been financially viable.
4 The performance gains from the AWD system were not enough to warrant further investigation."

so what would you call a proper manual?

That said, I wouldn't mind a sixth gear on the real manuals.
