I can see the lawsuits now. Those Nissan door handles look like they'd rip the skirt off pedestrians in any major metro downtown crowd. Of course that COULD be a selling point. Who am I to say?

WTH is up with the torque numbers? All that horse and no torque to match? Means it will run, but it won't feel as 'strong'.

Most Asian cars like that feel 'underpowered' to me. Rather have the torque numbers out-do the HP.

On the other hand, those with significantly higher torque than HP have left some power 'on the table'. This new Z seems to have over-built the engine. Wonder about its survivability?

@Turbo Driver: Usually it just means a very high redline. Since tq and hp match at 5250 RPM, a car with a 7k or 8k redline will usually have hp well in excess of torque...even if torque is ample throughout the lower power band. Just a thought.

Motorcycle engines, Ferraris, S2000, and some Audis are like this.

I know this is car is out for Porsche blood, but it even looks a little like the 924 the roof. I think Nissan might finally one up Porsche. (Not counting the GT-R Nurburgring lap times squabble they're in)

kinda scary. Porsche is...Porsche. Nissan is just plain Nissan.

Kinda cool at the same time. Why can't Toyota make a decent sports car? Nissan has two now.

@layabout: I totally forgot! My buddy has the Turbo uh........uh..........ummmm........& the uhhhhhhh.......you know the uhhhhhhhhhhhhh from Toyota. Its pullin' down quarter mile times in the 9's, yo.

Seriously though, Nissan's really pushing the envelope with its sporty models now, and at least Honda makes the Si and the S2000. Can big bad Toyota really not offer anything?

In two years maybe we'll see that joint venture between them and Subaru. Maybe.

@wrx-tyrannosaurusWrx: Hope the Subaru/Toyota team up works well. I can't help thinking it will benefit Toyota more than Subaru,does Subaru really need Toyota to make a fast good handling car? They seem to have mastered that already.
