    I hope they keep the black-out dashboard option. I think that is real innovative and should be offered on all cars. It really does reduce eye strain and glare at night.

    @leavethegun-takethecannoli: The "night panel" is really the only part in a Saab that is "born from jets". Without it, Saab's are just born from... Pontiac G6s?

    Give them some credit; the 9-3 is nice car. Yes, we know that it shares platform with the G6, and no, we really don't know how Pontiac managed to screw up the G6. And, in fairness to the G6, it isn't a terrible car, it's just not a great car. Still leaps and bounds ahead of the newer, and yet somehow worse, Sebring and Avenger.

    Yay! Everyone look forward to another 12 years of suspended design, comfortable seats, and a hell of an interesting cupholder conversation piece.

    Although I have never wanted one (I have managed to elude the cult that is Saab), the older Saab 900s always appealed to me. I especially liked the Aero and SPGs.

    In reply to 2010 Saab 9-3X, 9-5 Confirmed For 2009 European Lift-Off
    The original press release read like this:

    Important launches for GM this year in the region include the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer and Astra; and Chevrolet Cruze. The new Saab 9-3X and 9-5 will also launch in Europe from a trebuchet outside Paris.

    The problem with Saabs is that they always promise to be Born From Jets, and then turn out to be Bjorn From ABBA.

    @boosted-lego-wagon: Nah, the problem is that when people think "Born from Jets" they think F-22 Raptor ... When saab says "Born from Jets" they mean Airbus.

    I can't wait to see them.

    I know I am going against the general Jalopnik grain here, but I like the current 9-3, both in terms of styling and reasonable performance. The 9-3 Turbo Wagon is the coolest thing to come out of Saab in decades. With that happy thought, I have high hopes for the the next-gen 9-3 and 9-5.

    @pauljones: Forgive the Football analogy here, but what we have here is a coaching problem. You see, Saab could easily cover Acura, and look like a damn strong player doing it. The problem is that the coach feels liek Saab needs to team up with Cadillac to cover BMW, and in that Matchup, Saab is way outclassed, both by its opponent, and by its teammate.

    @pauljones: I like em- not so much the interior, but the exteriors were clean and nice. I think the only reasonable malice against them is for going away from a hatch, but they are one of the few who still have a wagon.

    @PetroSapien:

    I agree completely. Saab needs to be aimed at Acura, with Buick covering Lexus and Audi, and Cadillac covering BMW, Infiniti, and Mercedes-Benz.
