2010 Chevy Camaro: From Concept To Reality

The most striking feature of the unveil of the new Camaro was how strikingly similar the 2010 Chevy Camaro is to the Camaro Concept. We enlisted the help of GM designer Jeff Perkins, who worked extensively on the new muscle car, to help us with the magnifying glass and determine what those changes were. Hit the jump as Jeff guides us through sort of virtual walk-around, pointing out each of the individual tweaks and changes the designers made to bring the concept to production. More »

Video: New Camaro Playing Sweet V8-Powered Music On Main Street

No, you didn't read that wrong. Our sources tell us those idling sounds you hear in the above video received anonymously from one of our tipsters (who we're still waiting for an e-mail back from!) aren't coming from a plain-Jane direct-inject 3.6-liter V6 engine. Nope, apparently the new Chevy Camaro painted hot rod red shown to journalists in Metro Detroit last night had either the big 6.2-liter LS3 V8 and its whopping 422 HP. That's enough power to take the Camaro SS around Germany's famed Nurburgring with a time of 8:20. How do we know it was the LS3 and not the new Active Fuel Managed L99 V8 with the same displacement? Well, this particular Camaro's got a manual transmission. So yes friends, this is the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS — dressed up as a 2010 Chevy Camaro RS. Yeah baby, it's a sleeper! Nice. Also, see if you can spot Jalopnik's fearless leader for some bonus points. More »

Is the 2010 Camaro A Home Run, Strike Out Or Double Off-The-Wall?

After yesterday's musclecargasm over the 2010 Chevy Camaro, it's probably a good time to take a deep breath and decide whether or not we like it. Your Jalopnik crew is torn between those that see the car's design as sharp and progressive, those of us who believes it's unnecessary retroism and one of us who thinks it wouldn't look good with 14" wire rims. There are those among us that see the car as a great performer for a new era, while others see it as safe replacement for a car they didn't particularly like in the first place. Does it rock? Does it suck? Does it both rock and suck? More »

First Driving Video Of The New Chevy Camaro!

Well, first driving video of the production version of the 2010 Chevy Camaro, anyway. Sure, there's been two-and-a-half years of spy photos, videos and what have you, but here's B-Roll of the real deal. It goes like a nice Chianti with the leaked photos revealed on Friday, some fava beans and the live reveal you'll see here tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 PM. Sure, we wish there were some sounds of the new Chevy Camaro to go along with the video. Unfortunately, some silly site* we liberated this GM PR video from (its from an 800-lb consumer site with the inside line on how to get video from Chevy) decided to do a voice over instead of giving enthusiasts the chance to really here that Camaro purr. Bad consumer site, bad! Whatever. Anyway, hit the jump for our galleries on the new muscle car from the General.

The New Chevy Camaro In A Skittles-Like Rainbow Of Colors, What's Your Favorite?

Although we've already seen the 2010 Chevy Camaro revealed in three colors, the crazy kids over at CarScoop have decided the new Chevy Camaro RS needs to be seen in more than just plain-Jane colors like red, yellow and silver. They've Photoshopped a veritable Skittles-like rainbow of colorgasmic flavors for the new Chevy Camaro. Check out the front ends over here, then head on over to CarScoop to check out the hot rear action. Although we''re partial to pink on the new mullet-mobile, what's your favorite flavor? Better question — anyone want to take a few moments in P-shop themselves to mock up what colors and decals you'd drop atop Chevy's new muscle car? We'll do a post showing off the best tomorrow afternoon before the official unveiling at 4:00 PM EST.

Dale Earnhardt Takes The New Camaro Sideways With CNBC On Secret Aussie Test Track

While yesterday gave us our first look at the un-camouflaged new Chevy Camaro, who knew CNBC's Phil LeBeau had a scoop that'd put our blow-the-top-off coverage of Chevy's new muscle car to shame with the mullet-wearing demographic? He's got NASCAR star-of-stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr. ripping the new 2010 Chevy Camaro sideways through a secret test track somewhere in the Aussie outback in this new video over at CNBC. Though the 2010 Camaro is still wearing some serious body camo cladding, we're totally loving the screechingly good music coming from those rear tires. However, we'll try to ignore that "body roll" comment, because perhaps Dale just doesn't know that drive impressions are probably embargoed for sometime next year. Well, whatever. By the way, we've got a whole mess of new shots of the new Chevy Camaro RS below — now looking yellow, red and silver — so pick your color pleasure. [CNBC via Camaro5]

2010 Chevy Camaro Accessories Sneak Peak

Those rascally fellows over at Camaro5 snagged a video of the latest and greatest Camaro tease. Global Accessories Design Manager Larry Sully does his best Bob Lutz impression and lifts the skirt of the pending 2010 Chevrolet Camaro to reveal optional body work that's being worked up as we speak. We can also see a monstrous spoiler perched on the rear deck which remains under cover. Sully also mentions the design is doing well considering the car is a year from launch - which puts the start of production sometime in March 2009 unless he was speaking loosely. We're wondering if the peek we get is supposed to show the body work, or the rectangular exhaust tips which recall the last generation Camaro.

Extra Flavor, Extra Fun: Twin Black Camaros Caught On Camera

Looks like the 2010 Chevy Camaro dressed in black travels like Doublemint gum. These twin black Chevys were caught down in Tampa continuing the bow-tied brand's moist-weather testing. Again, we're just happy we don't have to see them in "p***y magnet" Velocity yellow again. No new Camaro should ever come in that color — unless it's gussied-up with go faster stripes on the hood and top for a Camaro-cameo in a movie by Michael Bay.

2010 Chevy Camaro Caught Wearing Velocity Yellow

It may work on the new 2008 Corvette, but on the 2010 Chevy Camaro, we're not so sure Canary "Velocity Yellow" works for the new muscular mullet-mobile. Maybe if it had a couple of black go-faster stripes on the hood. Then we'd have a Bumblebee edition — and yes, we'd be all over that one. But plain yellow? Umm, no. So — we've now seen the new Camaro in black, white and zebra — and now "Velocity Yellow." By the way — we'd like to point out that "Velocity" yellow is like "P***y Magnet" yellow, except faster. GM, please get a red tester on the road ASAP so we can make fun of the full range of colors. Well, except for black. We like black — because you know what they say about once you go black. That's right, you never go white — in Camaro colors. Full spy report below the jump.
