    It's nearly in crack pipe territory, according to the engineerd Fair Market Value (eFMV patent pending) calculation. Yet, it is squeaking by on the nice price side. According to the calculator, it get's $5000 for being an American classic in good shape. Another $2500 is awarded for an apparent lack of rust in the rust belt (magic gets $2500). Another $5000 is given for modifications that can be easily undone if you don't like them.

    If it was a boattail I bet half the Crack Pipe votes would've gone the other way. Boy, those were handsome cars. Mitchell knew what he was about, in my opinion.


    If we could have the boattail, with this thing's nose - heal up all those louvers somehow - I think it would be a really nicely proportioned car.


    We're not into Crack Pipe territory, but it's priced a little strongly. If there's something in the provenance that really stands out, or there's some great stuff that I can't spot from two pictures - besides a great stonking engine - it could be a nice price.

    I never have understood why hotrod types put dozens of louvers in EVERYTHING. It's ugly and makes no sense.

    Grandma was never quite the same once she got the tattoos and piercings...


    Asking $10,500 for an absolutely pristine '66 Riviera may not be all that far out of line, though it would be definitely on the high side. This is a truly vintage year for the Riv - the lines are downright voluptuous. It's like one of those Rubens paintings with the slightly hefty but enticingly curvy women. The ugly mods on this sled would cut the value by at least half for me, so Crack Pipe.

    @tonyola: If the car is as good as they say nice price. Indiana uses salt on the roads, I'd want to look under it first.

    @noone1569: Double trouble. New York does this too. Sand abrades while salt corrodes. That new Benz you spent 60 large on? Junk in ten years. Should have gotten a Camry and spent the difference winter-proofing your house.

    Funny, I just realized while looking at the quad-nailhead rail that the Buick Nailhead still lives on as a generic V8 molding for Hot Wheels cars. I remember looking at it once and thinking "whoever designed this has never seen a V8", based solely on the valve covers' relationship to the rest of the engine. I now see the folly of my ways, may the Engine Gods have mercy on my ignorance.

    I had this 401 once that came from the factory with a little 2BBL smaller than my fist. I remember first looking at that little thing sitting in the middle of all that iron, and thinking about how much fun I was going to have working to hotrod the induction. Like a kid in a candy store. Love those engines.
