Okay, carbon fiber body. So? I got a steel body on my truck. It keeps the wind from blowing up my shorts at speed, and prevents passersby from ogling the hot engine pr0n under the hood. I would think that the idea behind carbon fiber is weight reduction, but I'm not hearing anything about it.
You want to draw me in? Whip up an ultralight Atom fighter, using the same engine and tranny. Carbon fiber for the minimalist chassis, if necessary. This thing is just silly. It's pretty and all, and the black wheels are frankly compelling, but the rest of the whole concept is just goofy, a "look at what I can do" kind of project. As a marketing statement, I don't hate it. As a product, it's answering a question nobody is going to ask. #fordmustang

I'm remembering the old Firebird concepts, the Ford Nucleon, the Citation IV. These were pitched as thought experiments - "we've built these things and we're playing with some ideas, looking at where this vehicular paradigm fits in with how people travel and work." The Firebird was pretty much a bust - it was a jet plane sans wings. The Nucleon too - Atomic Age enthusiasm cut radically short by flinty-eyed G-men with geiger counters. That and any Nucleon customer would birth three-headed babies, but that's neither here nor there. The Citation IV was a much more realistic idea; park a GenIII Prius next to one and you won't see a lot of difference. (Thanks for dropping that ball 20 years ago, GM!)
But is Gittin's CF Mustang a concept - an engineering and marketing device - or a sample? If it's a sample, it seems just silly. #fordmustang
