That's nothing, when I was younger my dad hooked my Bigfoot Powerwheels up to a real car battery. Man, that thing went so wicked fast

My dad found a Power Wheels knockoff pickup in a junkyard one time, all it needed was some power and something to hold on the left front wheel. A 12v DieHard and a welded-on washer later, my brother and I were flippin wheelies in the backyard, until we almost flipped it all the way over, and dad put a broken up cinderblock in the front to weigh it down, then it handled and drove REALLY fast, and yes, it would drift. We even had a bungee cord seatbelt, for safety, of course. The fun was temporarily cut short when I tried to go from low gear to high, for some REAL speed, and every wire in the thing went up in smoke. After a quick rewire, my brother ripped the tranny out doing forward/reverse burnouts. It was good times.

This reminds me of when one of my childhood friends let me drive his Power Wheels jeep around in wet grass. We had so much fun "slipping" in his jeep. We were on to something! Soon everyone in our town who had one was doing it (which was like, 3 kids)

Our parents weren't smart enough to film us though... Maybe we could have ended up on Americas funniest home videos.

Ah... good times, I always wished my parents could afford a Power Wheels bigfoot or something for me.

@Psiu! Puxa!: It's not too late. It will be even more beautiful and poignant if you go out right now and recreate it it. And post the video for us too see. I promise we'll laugh with you.

@Jeb_Hoge: I think the trick is the plastic no-grip wheels. Maybe they'll start equipping real cars with them soon.

Now there's an idea... I smell a new concept for the drifter crowd. Besides, plastic fumes can't be as bad as rubber fumes, right?

I wasn't lucky enough to have a Power Wheels at that age. But I did abuse the coaster brake on my bike so often I wore through the back tire. Ten years later, I'd do so many e-brake turns, I snapped the cable (or something) on my Intrepid.

On that note, if I were the kid's parents, I'd replace an allowance with a tire fund.

Ahh, Power Wheels. Still the only electric car that I have ever driven, and the only electric car that I will have ever driven for the rest of my life. Suck it, Elon Musk.

When our sons and my husband finished restoring the Ferrari 250 California Spyder, our sons taught us how to drift into a tight parking space. Great lesson but we're definitely avoiding doing that.

Where I grew up, only the spoiled rich brats got Power Wheels. We'd beat them up and escape on our Big Wheels.

@theeastbaykid: You missed out. You don't know the joy of replacing the dinky pair of power wheel batteries with a nice, fresh, and most importantly, LARGE automotive battery. Yes, it does make it move faster.

Damn kid forgot to feed the meter. Someone should teach this kid that in a recession, towns generate revenue with tickets.

Hey Junior - I hope that episode of "Yo Gabba Gabba" is worth the $100 parking violation.

A Not So Distant in the Future Story:

REPORT: Roger Penske Meets With Power Wheels Mustang Kid Today

By Ray Wert, 7:12 PM on Mon Aug 20 2009, 3,174 views

We're told the hottest up-and-coming Sprint Cup free agent is the Power Wheels Mustang Kid. Nobody knows where he'll end up, but speculation's focused on Roger Penske's #12 car. Today, an anonymous tipster spotted Power Wheels Mustang Kid meeting with Penske. Full report below.

"was doing business at penske this morning and i saw the power wheels mustang kid who is the detroit native go into the building with a man who appeared to be his agent, the car was still there 3 hours later when i left. I imagine roger is trying to get the power wheels mustang kid away from earnhardt and hendrick to run him in sprint cup."

Well, is it true? If it is, what will that mean for David Stremme? Anyone else see the Power Wheels Mustang Kid out at Penske's facility in Detroit? Let us know in the comments or e-mail me — we'll try our damndest to keep track of this soap opera in the making!
