Man, I pass by their shop everyday on my way to work. It's like Mecca for tarted-up Stangs. And they don't just keep their ricey, tuner-boy hands on Pony cars, just look at what they did to this Challenger. Their shop must be full of carbon monoxide, because what they're doing is utterly tasteless. #carcrashes
@tbones: The Challenger was a 'ponycar', based on the later generations of the Barracuda that went nose-to-nose with the Mustang from '64 to the early emissions era. Now, though, it's a pig. #carcrashes
@MushyHeirloom: That is a commonly held belief and I'll concede that it is a fact, but just like it's current counterpart, the 1970 Challenger had a larger wheelbase than any other 'pony car', larger overall dimensions and more luxurious interior appointments, three things that invariably go against the grain of the 'pony car' definition. I think the moniker was applied out of fairness to Dodge fans rather than out of actual adherence to the definition. #carcrashes
When I was a kid I would build forts with our couch cushions, and I made sure the edges were lined up and it was nice and square. I would sit in them with a sense of satisfaction only an impenetrable fortress of such quality would provide.
One such instance my older brother jumped on the roof crushing my fort and me inside.
That day I learned the value of a good solid roof. Sadly this guy took much longer to learn that lesson. #carcrashes
Wow - look closely at Pic 1 - It is not a full roll cage - just a rear hoop - and the diameter of the pipe looks smaller than the stuff we used on our 2,000 lb lemons car....
Remember kids - Carpet Queening will get you killed on the track. #carcrashes
@Michael Coury: Good eye. There do not appear to be any forward legs along the A-pillars in that first pic. I love how in pic 8 you can see the roll hoop leg sticking up.
Amazing that no one was hurt although I think that means the seats must have collapsed too.. #carcrashes
@bmoreDLJ: Someone should be on the end of some hard questions.... that did not look good at all. Our Lemons cage has some serious plates welded to the floor to prevent the cage from puncturing the mounting points...
@snapoversteer 'bout to get told: An article from Mustang 5.0 magazine on the car says it's an Autopower 4-point. Going by the lack of crossbar, it's probably the drag racing version (I think for whatever reason the NHRA deems the SCCA/NASA mandatory crossbar illegal).
I'm still trying to find out if it bolts to the floorpan or to the beefy crossmember that's right under the front of the rear seat.
@PowerTryp forever Minardi: Something like that NEVER should have passed tech. All that thing did was provide some internal chassis stiffness right up until the point where it collapsed like a drinking straw. #carcrashes
@pres: Probably made out of exhaust tubing, gives you the look with out the price. Even 2" chromoly would have held better than that in a bolt in application. #carcrashes

1. Mustangs can't corner.
2. This mustang owner used substandard components to make his track-day toy.
HOW ARE EITHER OF THESE POINTS NEWS TO ANYONE? #carcrashes

Well, I guess that's one way to do a chopped roof...
I guess you can have the strongest roll cage in the world, it won't protect you if its bolted to graham crackers. #carcrashes
