What's the story on the Medically Challenged 3000GT? Is it a katrina car or something? I've never seen a 3000GT with an intact drivetrain go for anywhere near LeMons budget regardless of body damage.
@eggwich the fiero star the cannoli: There will be drag racing between sessions at the Laissez Les Crapheaps Roulez LeMons in Louisiana. In fact, LeMons cars will be going head-to-head against BABE Rally cars. That's right, LeMons drag racing! They'll be a-throwin' rods left and right!
By the way, Syrax needs to email me ASAP, because he or she has won the MG-versus-Opel You Guess The Laps contest and will be getting some fabulous LeMons gear.
@Foozy Ploosh Room: Yeah, but isn't the "WE PASS UNDER YELLOW" spraypainted on the hood a nice touch? By the end of the race, this car had "I will not pass on yellow" and "I will not leave the asphalt" written on it 100 times apiece, plus a couple of Bible chapters (Genesis and Revelations, as I recall) written on the roof. We got really into the writing punishments.
As a Member of a team building a car for the Buttonwillow race, seeing pictures of a car in the pits because it never had enough track time to get a cool racing action shot scares me!
Just a general comment about the Gator-O-Rama competition. While the chicane was different to slow us down more and the field was larger. A huge majority of the teams managed to pull times less than 1:20 or just slightly above that. In October, only a few cars ran under 1:20.
The race was far more competitive than October. While there were plenty of penalties, the driving was better. The hot pit was great and the flagging was much better too.
@racertex: There was much less whining by the penalized this time, I might add.
And, speaking of penalties, it seemed like most of the punishments were meted out to a dozen or so repeat offenders. Let's hear it for the winners of the first-ever LeMons Über-Recidivist Award, that little ol' band of Camaro drivers from Texas: Los Diablos!
I'd like to see some shots of the post-race cars too... battered and bleeding fluids. We need to see the true cost of the competition, and celebrate the gladiators, even the ones that didn't triumph. Especially the ones that didn't triumph.
Um, someone put the photo for #63 in the spot for #53. Had me wondering for a second what wondrous and / or terrible force makes Pontiacs out of Bimmers (Holden?).

But most of those vehicles.. are inches, CMs away from rolling like a doughnut!
And Ive never.. seen such clapped out vehicles. Between the #80 Celica that seems to be sitting on 1 wheel, thr #42 Taurus that is smoking SOMETHING BAD oh the joy!
@Accordforall: The G-body mid-80s Bonneville was the same car as the Malibu. Without the grille they look pretty much the same, and Justice Lieberman asked for the Pontiac hood ornament as a bribe during the BS inspection- something about the Parisienne wagon he had as a teenager.
