Sadly that means that there's at least one Jalop wearing the same ultra nerdy ultra limited edition novelty shirt I have. There can only be one. Fight to the death! For the right to live.
And for the right to wear that shirt...
Or we could just happen to live on completely faraway places and will never meet in person.
@Pessimippopotamus: San Angeles resident myself. I know that there are some others around here, but I don't recall if you have ever mentioned your whereabouts. Even then, it's unlikely to happen...
I was thinking a LeMons challenge could decide it if it came down to it. There is a decrepit Rabbit in my complex that I've been eyeing as a possible contender. #tshirts
"it sure as hell ain't gonna be the fat guy in the diaper."
First: Thong, not diaper.
Second: Take a good look at the angle of that truck. Not only is it on one back wheel, but it looks about one half-second away from rolling onto its roof. By contrast, the sumo wrestler is upright and has a firm footing.
There is also no driver in the cab, which means that no gas or brakes or any control whatsoever is being applied to the truck. The wheels don't appear to be spinning. We're not even sure the engine is on; the headlamps may have simply been left on.
Any way I look at it, this is an easy victory for the sumo wrestler. The t-shirt captures the moments before the truck's embarrassing defeat. #tshirts
@bmoreDLJ: Let me lend some expertise, I used to know someone who wrestled semi-competitively in high school.
The remotely controlled truck is about to lay on the gas with the diff locked. This will send the grounded wheel forward under an unsuspecting opponent who is precariously leaned in.
The sumo wrestler will be flipped to the mat and the truck will have sufficient momentum to regain traction and make another move. #tshirts
@bmoreDLJ: The splattery viewable inside the windshield (reminiscent of the Aussie exploding diaper advert) suggests to me that the hidden driver has accepted the inevitable defeat. #tshirts
Oh! I love TeeFury! My all time favorite is this one. Its called "Dali Meets VW." I love this so much. Wish I could of gotten one. I had missed the day for it :( #tshirts
I was at the Monster Jam show at the Citrus Bowl Saturday night. Honestly, I'm surprised that injuries/fatalities aren't more common. I mean, the promoter's booth was actually on the field! If a driver loses control of a truck, it could end up in the booth before the promoter had a chance to know what hit him. Just move the guy to a safer spot.
There was no reason to pronounce him dead at the Hospital. All my friends who went said he was done before the second tire got him.
This venue in Madison is horrible for the show. I doubt it will be back ever. It is way to small, to tight and no ventilation. When we would go to the show in Madison you wanted to sit down low because by the time the show was over you couldn't see the upper deck. Fire fighters I have spoke with and know mentioned the CO levels would get way out of hand. We could never tell, too much Old Style drank before and we where busy brushing our mullets to notice.
None of the trucks ever hit close to full power, the jumps where maybe one car. Imagine trying to drive a Hummer around a kiddie pool, that was what it was like.
@lilwillie: Without a doctor, it's very, very difficult to declare death on the scene. The criteria vary from state to state, but they're uniformly pretty gross - and go beyond even what happened to this poor guy.
He must of had something on his mind. I saw it on the news this morning and he must of been pre-occupied to step in front of a truck like that. I do not wish to speak ill of the dead, but the other possibility is that he wanted to commit suicide and still have his family collect the life insurance. Anyway, it's a shame. R.I.P.
ok... how do we reverse it to get these to look more real? (i mean, besides maybe me doing some REAL landscaping instead of green paint and model railroad buildings...)
@parkrndl: Dude, that is SO titties and beer! (Apologies to the ladies, I don't mean to offend, but this track is seriously freaking cool.) Is this from old film as it appears, or was it shot with a tiny video camera (as the pixellation would suggest), and given that 'patina' with editing software? Also, does this track still exist? I've never seen a slot car carrier until today.
