Could Quynh Thy be the new Jill Wagner?

We're not sure if 25-year-old Vietnamese model Quynh Thy will appear in any television ads, but we do love how she gets luggage out of the trunk.

<![CDATA[Ford Mondeo Individual To Launch At Paris Motor Show]]> We already heart the new Ford Mondeo, so the prospect of being able to fit it to our exact custom needs a la Ford Individual makes us feel happy in a way a Catholic upbringing frowns upon. Sure, the "Individual" program is just a way to add more money on top of a car that you were already going to buy. Most of the individual work comes on the interior, though special 18-inch alloy wheels will be available. So, what are these crazy individual options?

There are various color themes for the Ghia and Titanium editions of the Mondeo, which include limited-edition leather touches everywhere and unique sports-style pedals and the like. The colors are beige/dark beige for the Ghia; tan/ebony and ebony/ebony for the Titanium; and light beige/ebony for both. <![CDATA[Ford To Build Euro Models Stateside, Reports Wall Street Journal]]> A Saturday Wall Street Journal report claims Ford is working up plans to retool its North American assembly plants to build a number of European models. Ford hasn't confirmed the report, but it is expected to announce the shift during its second-quarter earnings conference on Thursday. While the paper mentions only the Mondeo specifically, conventional wisdom has the Euro Focus and possibly a C-Max/S-Max joining it. We'll take one with a diesel and 6-speed stick, please. <![CDATA[2012 Ford Mondeo To Look Like Catfish, Take On Passat CC?]]> Achtung Autobild! Lay off the blueberry schnapps. While the growing influence on European Ford design by their North American masters frightens us too, we don't think they'll go so far as to mandate that the 2012 Ford Mondeo Coupe look like our favorite fried fish. In fact, since it's already the best looking, best driving vehicle in its class, we're skeptical of the claim that Ford intends to build a four-door coupe version of the Mondeo at all, much less one that looks like this rendering from the always-quick-to-the-drawing Autobild. If we have one piece of advice for the Germans, it's to stick with the Goethe.

<![CDATA[Ford Mondeo Titanium Gets That X Factor]]> If we were in the market for a new Mondeo, which would mean we'd be living in another country, we'd probably go for Mondeo Titanium S five-door hatch, which comes both with sharp styling cues and a powerful TDCi diesel mill. We should say that's what we would have purchased. Now that we know there's a Titanium X model as the new flagship we're going to bite down on that. Though it isn't going to break any landspeed records with its 0-62 mph jog time of 8.4 seconds, all that style with a sporty suspension, standard six-speed manual transmission and a combined economy figure of 45.6 MPG in the EU combined cycle make for one supreme sedan. Press release and pics of the now passé Titanium S below.

SPORTING APPEAL FOR NEW FLAGSHIP MONDEO BRENTWOOD, Essex, May 6, 2008 - The multi-award winning Ford Mondeo is set to extend its premium sporty appeal with the introduction of a new flagship - the Titanium X Sport. Visually exciting, packed with standard equipment and powered by new premium diesel or five-cylinder petrol engines, the new Titanium X Sport is the most desirable Mondeo yet. Created in response to the recent surge in retail demand for top end versions of Mondeo, the new Titanium X Sport combines superb dynamics with premium luxury and a sportier new look. Available in five-door hatchback and estate body styles, Titanium X Sport models are designed to stand out from the crowd. Aggressively styled 18in alloys fill the wheel arches while twin chromed exhaust tailpipes and body-coloured side skirts complete the picture. The interior is also themed with sporty red stitching on the leather/alcantara seats, leather steering wheel and gear shift lever. Aluminium trim detailing is replaced with stylish piano black inlays. Customers can choose from two powerful and efficient powertrains. Existing five-cylinder 220PS 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol, or the new diesel, which is expected to account for the majority of sales. With 35PS more than its 2.0TDCi sister, the new 175PS 2.2-litre TDCi engine is among the smoothest units of its type combining swift, quiet acceleration of 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds and a top speed of 139mph with a combined economy figure of 45.6mpg. C02 emissions are low too at 165g/km. Generously specified, the Mondeo Titanium X Sport's standard equipment includes in-dash Sony six CD player, voice control, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, front and rear park assist, dual-zone climate control and Ford Power start button. Additional upgrades over the standard Titanium include advanced Bluetooth connectivity, bi-xenon lights, alloy pedals and sports suspension. Both engines come with six-speed manual gearbox and insurance groups are 12E for diesel and 14E for petrol models. Available to order now and priced from £23,355 (5 door) and £26,605 (estate) on the road, Titanium X Sport adds more premium appeal and choice to Ford's popular Mondeo.

<![CDATA[Ford Mondeo Latest to Get Adaptive Cruise Control, Tech Coming to Lincoln for 2009]]>
The very European Ford Mondeo that may or may not be coming to the U.S. and is also loved by James Bond, is getting an ever-so-fancy feature: Adaptive Cruise Control, or ACC. For the 2009 model year, the Lincoln MKS will get the technology in the U.S.

ACC is the cruise control technology that protects against complete idiots. By mounting a radar unit behind the front grille, it can calibrate speed so that the vehicle can maintain a safe between the car ahead. The system is also capable of recognizing those jackasses who decide to randomly slow down on desolate stretches of interstate. If it spots one of those nitwits, it will slow your vehicle to match the other guy's speed.

While the lazy bastard in me is green with envy over ACC, but my bank account couldn't give a damn. ACC is a $2,000 option on the Mondeo (Lincoln MKS pricing has not been announced yet). Then again, it is a safety feature, and you can't put a cost on life.... Blah. Blah. Blah.[Gizmag]

<![CDATA[Loder1899 Tweaks the Aston Martin Vantage Volante and Ford Mondeo]]> The Bavarian accessorizers at Loder1899 are showing off a little at this year's Essen Motors Show, bringing both an upgraded Mondeo and Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante. The Vantage gets the company's new 20-in "hyper-alloy" wheel, lowering-kit, and a new exhaust system good for a boost to 425 hp. The Mondeo gets mostly exterior upgrades, including a less-than-flattering carbon fiber hood, though a new engine management system and sport exhaust system is good for a 50 hp bump to 270 hp. Press release and high resolution shots below:

The Bavarian tuner presents innovative concepts for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante and the new Ford Mondeo

Loder1899 sends two luxury racers to the 2007 Essen Motor Show

For this year´s Essen Motor Show (1.-9.12.2007) the Bavarian Tuner Loder1899 presents the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante and the new Ford Mondeo.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante

The newly created Loder1899 wheel Vertigo Viginti has its debut at the Essen Motor Show. The 20 inch wheel in hyper-alloy look has a fascinating design, and hamonizes perfectly with the luxurious form of the British racer.

Aerodynamic real carbon fiber accessories from one of Germany´s leading tuner Loder1899, embellish the latest Aston Martin. These elegant parts: front-lip, rear diffusor and engine cover are extremely light weight and of the highest quality.

In addition, Loder1899 sport exhaust system includes a stainless steel sport catalytic converter. At 4000 rpm the flap control opens, which allows the engine to breathe out more effectively. Thanks to this optimised exhaust system not only does the sound have more substance, but the power also increases from 385 hp to 425 hp. To finish off the look, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante´s beautiful and dynamic lines are displayed to their fullest by Loder1899´s 35mm lowering kit.

Loder1899 gears up the new Ford Mondeo in a special edition designer outfit
The Ford Mondeo shares the podium at this year´s motor show with the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante. The frost white Ford Mondeo coolly holds its own with a body styling kit made out of real carbon fiber. The discreet front lip and the 35mm lowering kit accentuate the sporty lines of the new Ford bringing it closer to the street. The elegant roof spoiler, the rear skirt and the two branch stainless steel exhaust system (75x105mm), take care of a powerful finish. Rounding off the look nicely is the hand-polished Loder1899 bonnet in a special edition Stainless steel look in a silver, glossy finish.

The wheel/tire combination for the elegant Ford is the 9x20 inch alloy wheel Sins in a shiny, black finish. Alternatively Loder1899 offers the 9x20 inch design wheel W1 in a special edition Polish glam also in a black, glossy finish with polished spokes.

The standard 220 hp Ford Mondeo gains 50 hp, thanks to the up-to-the-minute motor management from Loder1899 and the sport exhaust system.

Loder1899 offers for both vehicles a 4-way adjustable sport suspension system. This enables the driver to adjust vehicle height, gradient, pressure level and strut compression to personal taste and requirements. [Source: Loder1899]

<![CDATA[Ford Europe's 2008 Mondeo, Coming to Geneva]]>

Ford Europe released the latest on its redesigned Mondeo, which premiered in lights of lime during last year's Bond vehicle "Casino Real." It played an airport rental car, which won't necessarily different from the real European Mondeo. But the first manifestation of Ford Europe's "kinetic design" language is too well designed to be relegated to rental hell. It's debuting in Geneva in four-door, five-door and wagon models, ahead of sale this June.

Press Release:

2008 Ford Mondeo

Full Mondeo range debuts at Geneva : 4-door, 5-door and Estate

Dramatic and striking: 'kinetic design' transforms Ford's new large car

Ground-breaking advanced technologies and premium quality

On sale June 2007

Prices to be announced closer to launch

Brentwood, February 14, 2007: Ford has released the first images of the all-new Mondeo ahead of its world debut at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. The dramatic all-new Mondeo is designed to raise customers' expectations for a car in this class through a combination of style, dynamics and technology.

During its life, the Mondeo has appeared every year in the nation's top 10 favourite cars. A total of over four million Mondeo models have been built at the Genk plant since launch in 1993 with more than 1.5 million of those being sold in the UK.

"The exciting new Mondeo is very important to us", said Roelant de Waard, Ford of Britain's Chairman and Managing Director. "It's probably the most elegant car we've ever launched, and it's certainly the most technologically-advanced. Like the S-MAX, Car of the Year 2007, the new Mondeo will attract many new customers to our showrooms as well as delighting our loyal UK customer base," he said.

New Mondeo Design

The new Mondeo is striking and unmistakably a member of the Ford family. It is the latest and most advanced expression of Ford's 'kinetic design'.

The distinctive front end has chamfered corners and a deep offset between the top of the bonnet and the front wings. A muscular shoulder line runs through the side of the car to a high point at the rear.

Distinctive rear lamps also feature carefully designed graphics that enhance the overall feeling of premium quality. A strong undercut line runs from the bold front wing wheel lips through the side of the car. Under this, full surfacing extends down to strong rocker panels to ensure the vehicle maintains a dynamic road presence.

The spacious interior shares the same 'kinetic design' exterior language as the exterior. The driver will enjoy the 'cockpit' driving position as the higher beltline and flow-through centre console combine to enhance the cosseted feeling for front seat occupants.

New levels of craftsmanship are evident throughout. For example, careful use of 'piano black' interior styling accents creates interest and a pleasing feel to key touch areas. Soft-touch material and ambient lighting is used extensively throughout the cabin to emphasise its quality and refinement.

New Mondeo Choice

The Ford Mondeo range has always offered a wide choice for customers, and the new Mondeo is no exception. Standard equipment across the range includes Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Ford Easyfuel capless refuelling with fuel inhibitor to prevent misfuelling, Thatcham Cat. 1 alarm, air conditioning, 'follow-me-home' lights, trip computer and an MP3 connector socket.

Three distinct bodystyles - a classic four-door, a stylish and flexible five-door and the capacious Estate - will all be available from launch. For each body style, four distinct series are available: the Edge, which provides a high level of standard equipment essential for business and family needs; the contemporary Zetec series, and, at the top of the range, the Ghia and Titanium X models.

These flagship models offer a choice of premium quality details. While the Ghia represents classic luxury, with extensive use of chrome and wood ornamentation inside, the Titanium model will appeal to those customers favouring a more contemporary, technology flavour.

New Technologies for Driver Assistance

Advanced new driver-focused technologies are available, and include keyless entry and keyless start with "Ford Power" start button, new Ford "Convers+" Human Machine Interface (HMI) instrument display, Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Alert, Interactive Vehicle Dynamics Control with Hill Launch Assist, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

Furthermore, this new Mondeo is the first production Ford to feature the company's award-winning Easyfuel system. This guards against either petrol or diesel misfuelling at the filling pump as the fuel filler neck aperture has been specifically designed around the different sizes of fuel nozzles. Ford has engineered its system only to allow the nozzle that matches the corresponding fuel type of the car to enter the filler neck.

Ford Precision Drive: New Mondeo Driving Quality

The Ford Mondeo has been acclaimed for its driving quality since its original introduction in 1993. The new Mondeo aims to extend this reputation even further, and from the outset was developed with superior driving dynamics as a core attribute, combining a refined ride with minimal noise, vibration and harshness.

The major modifications include:

Wider track

Optimised front suspension design

New rear suspension design

Isolated rear subframe

Optimised steering system

Refined Suspension System
Ford has specified the trusted MacPherson front suspension system for the new Mondeo incorporating features to enhance the Mondeo driving experience such as isolated subframes, control arm hydro bushings, S-shaped springs and dual path strut mounts.

At the rear a new version of the proven multi-link rear suspension design also benefits from an isolated subframe mounting system. This concept is already familiar in the Ford S-MAX "Control Blade" design and uses four links to control each wheel precisely.

Reduced Noise, Vibration and Harshness and Improved Sound Quality
New Mondeo promotes stress-free, relaxed driving through low noise levels which enables easy communication inside the vehicle and optimum use of the internal audio equipment even at high speeds.

The combined effect of all the engineering actions, in terms of noise, is a reduction of 3dB across the whole frequency range, compared with the current model. Wind noise, measured in Ford's state-of-the-art aero-acoustic wind tunnel is the lowest in its class, and reinforces the quality ambience of the interior.

Powertrains
The new Mondeo is available with a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines, including:

1.8-litre Duratorq TDCi 100PS or 125PS diesel with 5-speed manual transmission. The 125PS version can also be specified with a 6-speed manual transmission.

2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi 140PS diesel with 6-speed manual transmission.

2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi 130ps diesel with a new Durashift 6-speed automatic transmission

1.6-litre Duratec Ti-VCT 110PS or 125PS petrol engines with 5-speed manual transmission.

2.0-litre Duratec HE 145PS petrol engine with Durashift 5-speed manual transmission.

A new 2.3-litre Duratec HE 161PS 4-cylinder petrol engine with Durashift
6-speed automatic transmission.

Range topping, performance-orientated 2.5 litre Duratec 5-cylinder 220PS petrol engine with Durashift 6-speed manual transmission.

<![CDATA[Spy Photos: Ford Mondeo Wagon]]>

The new European Ford Mondeo may be the most well-designed mainstream midsize wagon ever produced (at least since the Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser). Damnation by the faintest of praise? Maybe. But Ford's European boys deserve their propers for creating a compelling form from the most banal parameters. There's talk one of Ford's Euro cars will be ported for US use. While we all want the Focus ST (judging from this poll), we might settle for the Mondeo Wagon if it comes with AWD and a Cosworth-tuned six. Priorities.

<![CDATA[Jalopnik Poll: Which Ford Europe Product Should FoMoCo Bring to the US?]]> ford_mondeo_new_2_sm.jpg

UK-based trade mag Just-Auto yesterday reported FoMoCo is considering bringing models from Ford Europe to the US market, a practice the company has employed in the past to fill holes in its stateside line. Among models it's considering are the Mondeo, Focus, S-Max, and Galaxy minivan, which many Jalopnik readers agree are more appealing than their counterparts (if any) in the US. So which ones should they bring? The much-coveted Euro Focus, which shares its underpinnings with the Volvo S40 and Mazda3? Maybe the S-Max, a higher-performance version of the Galaxy minivan? How about the Tourneo utility wagon (young, quirk-addicted parents call the front desk)? Maybe something else? Enough with the talk. Take our poll already.

Ford released more photos of the 2007 Mondeo as it appears during filming of the next James Bond vehicle, "Casino Royale." It's not the first workaday sedan of Ford's to launch in a Bond flick; in 1976, a pre-production Taunus-Cortina appeared in "The Spy Who Loved Me." In the case of this 2007 Mondeo five-door, a pre-production workup that's been fitted with a sports bodykit and layered in a metallic blue dubbed "Tonic," moviegoers will see it in a sequence shot on location in the Carribean. According to a press release, new 007 Daniel Craig uses it, "to drive to a hotel after arriving in the Bahamas on the trail of a terrorist cell." Oh no, it's a rental? [Gallery 1] [Gallery 2]

Ford says the new Mondeo — which the concept hearkens — is crucial to its line, sharing architecture with the S-Max and Galaxy, and will be built in Genk, Belgium. It's also quite hot in person, though comes off somewhat like a Mazda6 clone in the photos. Don't be fooled.

Ford's got the Mondeo wagon concept dropping like it's hot at the Paris Auto Show this next week (shameless reminder to bookmark the tag and RSS, kiddies!) — but as you can see above (and below the jump) from spy photos taken down in what looks like the Bahamas — the 2007 sedan's got many of the same stylin' features the concept'll be showing off, like the sideways teardrop taillights, chrome door handles and that freaky under-tail groovage. The only thing the sedan's missing is the concept's whole "kinetic design" language thing going on at the front end, but hey, FoMoCo's gotta leave something for next year, right? Oh wait, and the concept's a wagon — mustn't forget that, either.

The rest of Ford's official Mondeo concept shots came down the pike last night, showing the company's proto-Mondeo in Paris-ready trim. It's the first production model to use Ford's new "kinetic design" language, introduced in the Iosis concept last year at the Frankfurt show, which designers say uses styling cues to express a car's driving dynamics. Ford says the road-ready version will come with a range of enginery, including a 1.6-liter Duratec, 2.5-liter turbo five and two diesels (1.8 liter and 2.0 liter). Ford's also touting a human-machine interface dealie that combines entertainment and nav functions (think iDrive with multiple knobs). Click through for more pics.

<![CDATA[What Hath Iosis Wrought: Mondeo Wagon Concept for Paris]]>

A year ago, Ford unveiled the Iosis concept, which designers said would set the pick for the company's European styling direction. Next week in Paris, Ford's planning to show off the car most heavily influenced by the Iosis, that is, the redesigned Mondeo midsize sedan. This shot of a wagon version, which hit the intersplice sometime in the past 12 hours, likely portrays a proto-Mondeo show car, which shares similarities with the Galaxy and S-Max minivans that were Ford's pride of Geneva for the past two years. Now if only they'd stop designing US models around the sensibilities of our puritan countrymen.
