A driver of a modified Ford GT died earlier today at a standing mile event at California's Mojave Air & Space Port, according to a Ford GT forum. The driver, known as "Jack," drove off the track at approximately 210 MPH before flipping and crashing. UPDATE
It's surprising how hard it can be to find a good piece of flat, well-kept asphalt suitable for a mile of open throttle. The Mojave Mile is just two years old, and already luring interesting machines, like a Powerstroke-driven Hudson pickup that can be driven by mouth.
