Funny, I was just eyeing this non-model version last night.

The only Volvo models on there are a bit too high-class (read: costly) for me.

I'm still trying to finish the Tamiya Honda F1 model I started in 1972. I've dragged my personal model car hell through four states and six houses. Despite no significant progress in a couple decades, I know I'll get it done.

@junkman: I have that same one (1:12 RA273), I have been working on it since 1997. All I have left to do is paint the body, but I have moved fourteen times since I last worked on it and am afraid to open the lid and see what of my previous work may have come undone.

1:16 scale first-gen Civic means you won't have to use a magnifying glass to assemble it, that's all.

Being RHD is a big bonus, however.

@musicalmcs8706: A typical HW/ Matchbox diecast is approx. 1:64 scale.. Most model kits are 1:24 or 1:25.

Well, Murilee, you can always just build parts of the cars, if you don't have time for the whole thing:

This reminds of the models I used to make - once I got bored of building the car according to the instructions, and started adding on bits of planes, ship, and rockets.

In all fairness, these seem like they'd be a giant pain in the ass to actually build, as model vehicles go. They're still brain-meltingly cool, though.

Goddammit! You're making me want to go dig up my brushes and paints and dive into this again. Must...resist.. temptation... because modeling really is about the very last thing you want to get to when you have a 2.5 year old running around the house.
