And I agree with everyone else about the awful 3rd row. I think that would be a deal killer for anyone that actually needed a 3rd row.

I looked at the 2009 Outlander and it didn't really stand up to the competition in terms of capacity, capability, quality, power or comfort. And I never got a good feeling from that D-pillar. Maybe this refresh will change that, but compared to the 2010 Subaru Outback, I don't think it stands much of a chance.

It's a good car, and the stereo (from my experience with a last-gen Outlander) should really, really rock. But I can't come to terms with CUVs in general, and that they are driven by soccer moms who can't quite afford Hummers and Escalades and Range Rovers, and men who can't drive a low car.

Me when I saw the link on Jalopnik's front page: "Outlander GT? Whoo-hoo! EVO engine in a small SUV — frickin' genius! This is the neatest thing ever! I want one!"
Me when I read that that the GT has 230 HP: "Oh, now that's a letdown."
Me when I saw the price: "You gotta be kidding me."
Me right now: "An Outlander would interest me about as as much as a sacrificial zinc anode."

But ultimately, this is essentially just another SUV. I am nonplussed. Someone tell me that Mitsubishi has something new here, because I am missing it.

In other news, I'd drive one of these if it had the EVO engine. Without, I'd pass it by for the cheaper three-pedal Mazda5 (which has a rear seat that doesn't look like it was designed in five minutes so the engineers could get to the bar for happy hour).
