@SCROGGZILLA RAIDS AGAIN!!: Well it does have a certain ring to it. In fairness driving fast is fine if it's done safely,i'd never drive fast in the wrong environment.
@layabout met the real Santa: Absulutely. I've seen a century and a half on a straight dual carriageway with no traffic, late at night... why not? How am I endangering anyone except myself?
Driving fast in the right conditions is fine. Driving like a wanker is when it gets dangerous.
@Rust-MyEnemy--ymenEyM-tsuR: That was more for publicity at the time. Although Cosworths were common police cars in their day. There's a few of these around my area...
@layabout met the real Santa: Yeah, Essex Police are lucky as we have both Fords Dunton Research Centre and Boreham, which is where Ford developed all their rally cars in the '80s.
They have developed some very interesting specialist Police stuff over the years, Ford and Essex Police are very good friends.
Nothing new to read about, they've had Scooby's,Evo's, S model Audi's & M3's for years. The local pigs even have a plain green modified Scooby to trap people into racing.
@layabout met the real Santa: We had a green WRX patrolling the motorways in our area, now it's octavia VRS's... Got to keep your eyes peeled for the flouro jackets in all sorts of Q cars now! I think they've got an unmarked S60R in one of the local departments too! So hard to spot the damn thing!!
@englishwhitetrash: What area, out of interest? In Gloucestershire they have dark coloured A4's saloon & avant, Blue A6 avant, many 3 series in dark blue. I think they just got rid of all their blue Honda Accords. So if you,re in the area keep an eye out.
@layabout met the real Santa: The force around here (Leics) use hot Octavias, which is great for me - I bought one a month or so back and now rarely get tailgated ;)
@c0de: No cctv outside of towns & cities, trust me there are plenty of places to do well over 150mph without getting caught. Don't believe in that cctv bullshit.
@c0de: Go for it,some great roads throughout the U.K. plenty of illegal rallies too. It's easy doing high speeds on the motorways once you've checked on camera locations, luckily not many where i live. But the real fun is the country lanes.
@layabout met the real Santa: The country out there is fun, but scary as shit for someone from North America. After going around too many blind corners on a road only a car and a half wide, I finally had that close call moment were I though I was going to die. That's when I figured out why the left side of everyone's car was beat to hell.
