    Look at the hitch setup on that mini. The drawbar on my lawn tractor that I use to tug around a yard cart full of branches looks more substantial than that.

    You could just buy a Honda Element with the tent extension on the back. Wouldn't look half as ridiculous, either. Probably get better gas mileage, and I'm sure the whole package is exponentially cheaper.

    I want to see this taken to the next level. There should be subcompacts with leaf springs, torquey diesels, awd, and hose-washable interiors.


    Take the first gen Scion xB - perfect shape for utility, none of the mechanicals to back it up. I wouldn't even want to carry four people cause it would constantly bottom out.

    Surfboard? Cool.

    Scuba gear in a custom, interior embellished with yellow accents? Um, at least you'll have a way to breath if you survive the fall when the crosswinds throw your rig off of the Mackinac Bridge.

    @Formerlythegreatestdriver: Add about 1000# of mass to the floor area of the mini, convert it to RWD, and toss in a ~150 hp turbo diesel, and you'd have a decent tow vehicle for the Airstream. As-is, its just silly.


    I did see a Mini out west towing one of the old Bolero fiberglass trailers- those weight about 1000#. About the limit for the Mini, I'd reckon.
