I never noticed how much this coupe looks like a sedan. In fact, I'd insist that they call this a "two-door sedan" to go with their "four-door coupe" nonsense, but it doesn't have a B-pillar.
Anyway, it's the normal one with some hideous rims. Whoo-bloody-hoo.
It's that extra mini-pillar at the rear-most side window which throws it for a loop. I actually thought it was a 4-door, at first glance...then noticed no rear door line.
I thought coupe vs. sedan was based on interior space, not number of doors. Regardless, I don't ever remember it being based solely on the arc of the roof.
Wow, I almost forgot! It's been a about a week or so since the last ass kissing fest concerning another new/regurgitated Mercedes. Let's just have another website for the trendy asshole cars to be featured on. We can call it Smallcocknik, so the Corvette and Porsche owners will feel at home too.
Ummm.... yeah.... What's the point of the E 63, or any AMG for that matter? Precisely, there is not a rational one. Ask M-B's deeply-pocketed patrons. Anyways, the only M-Bs worth a damn (the A- and B-Klasse)aren't even sold here...
I still don't understand the purpose of these things. For all intents and purposes, most people would do better with a Buick. If you want an E, get the diesel sedan. Or an AMG Sturmwagen. Honestly, this vehicle is like a patent leather bathingsuit. Just, WHY?
Nice to see that some of the available safety technology has become a standard feature. Hopefully more of the "S" class safety features will eventually trickle down. While it all reads pretty abstract and might seem over-the-top, it's amazing how quickly you get used to having the car "react" for you once you start driving with it.

Oh, how I miss the days when Mercedes Benz's had tasteful wheel coverings.

Probably just springs. So yes, it's "relative" (compared to $150-$200 for good aftermarket springs)

I feel pretty pathetic asking for someone to let me in on the inside joke... But it's such a frequent element here on jalopnik.

How is it supposed to counter AMG?

BRABUS announces our latest tuner -- The E-Class Coupe. For a mere €29,000 you can have the following:
*462 hp BRABUS 6.1L engine to crush your tuner boy neighbor's spirits
*Top Speed of 196 mpg to outrun the fuzz
*20-inch Wheels to keep your homies happy
*0-62 in 4.7s to prove to your GM-employed neighbor that people still want speed and a back seat (long live the G8!)
*Other options are available for the diesel engines including raising the torque to 435 lb-ft. Earth: Powered by BRABUS.
*Body kit, brakes, wheels, and other goodies are also available.
See GM, even BRABUS is a fan of the G8. I wonder why that didn't carry over to the English translation.

This was actually a well-misplaced reply, if you think about it.
