Last year I spoke with the owner of this car. He said the coolest thing about it compared to other Maker Faire displays is that it's really easy to setup: just drive in and park! He also said that pens do fall out from time to time and he does replace them.
A bit of Deja Vu for today. Not that I mind. Every once in a while, Jalopnik has to revisit something for the benefit of readers who may not have been around the last time.

@FromaBuick6: If one wanted to find fault, it would only be in not referencing last year's post. Even though the car has been featured before, it's at a different event, and that makes it fair game for additional coverage.
No one would fault a post of "Hey, remember that Mercedes with all of the pens glued to it that we showed you last year? It showed up at the Maker Faire."
Okay, so someone might post about it being "old news", but he would subsequently be berated by the rest of the commentariat. i.e. "read the post, and it says that it's been here before," or "reading comprehension FTL."
The W126, like, in general looks remarkably fresh for a design that was introduced thirty years ago. I don't know why it seems so 'modern' to me, or why today is the day I come to this realisation, but it seems like something that was pinned five years after it was.
In my opinion, there's never been a better looking S-class than the W126. Expensive and formal looking, yet with just enough aero sleekness to make it look modern. It's not fat-looking like the follow-up W140, and not too self-consciously "styled" like the post-1999 models.
@A strolling player is: Gold Member!: I have to agree. There is something about that design that is so timeless, but not in an old-fashioned sense of the word.
@A strolling player is: Gold Member!: Agreed, it's a great design. The proportions are about perfect, and it's neither over- nor under-styled, as many cars of it's day were.
@A strolling player is: Gold Member!: There has arguably never been a higher concentration of Bruce found in any four door before or since. And the coupes are gorgeous.
Murilee got Tomsk to work for her (after treating him gently with her whip) and Murilee herself got to the LeMons racing and at night she is hanging out with a guy with a Rat Rot.

It already has its own six-pointed star.

The fact that they didn't cover that up makes this car that much cooler.

I did, however, see a two-door MkII Jetta the other night. Wish I'd been able to photograph that...
