All we know about at this point is the garishly modified body and we'll have to wait for the official announcement to find out if this beastie's bite matches its bark. We're betting this kind of tomfoolery doesn't come cheap and considering the premium Hamann will probably charge to make your SLR stand out from all the others at Costco, this seems like a silly proposition. We'd rather spend the money garage-building a Lamborghini Countach. [WorldCarFans]

<![CDATA[McLaren Formula One Team Fitting Mock Headlights For Singapore Night Race]]> Look closely at about the 0:17 mark in this video. Those are headlights. On an F1 car. Of course, it's all just a joke — apparently the boys at the McLaren Mercedes F1 team have a sense of humor after all. Granted, we're still waiting to see just how well the lighting system at this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix will work, but we're pretty sure none of the teams will resort to bolting on an array of high beams.

<![CDATA[Mercedes SLR McLaren Speedster Spotted Testing At the Ring, Mercedes SLC Quietly Plotting Its Demise]]> It looks like McLaren and Mercedes are completing one last project before making their break-up official (we haven't read it on our Facebook feed yet). The Mercedes McLaren SLR Speedster was recently spotted testing at the Nurburgring, looking fine in its razzle dazzle camouflage, but, the Mercedes SLC is out there too, planning to make both the slow-selling SLR and the sexy R8 obsolete in one fell swoop. What we should expect from the SLR Speedster, as well as video of its 'ring run after the jump.

The McLaren SLR Speedster, scheduled for a July 30th debut, will be 440 lb lighter than the hardtop and be limited to just 75 units. Expect the blow-out special SLR Speedster to outperform the SLR with a near 220mph top speed, but also expect the SLC to blow that figure out of the water courtesy of an impossibly powerful supercharged engine. Video of the Speedster testing on the ring below.

<![CDATA[142nd Richest Man In World Doesn't Do Coffee Tables, Parks Mercedes SLR in Living Room]]> If you're Eike Batista, the Brazilian steel, gold and oil tycoon gunning for Bill Gates' spot on the world's richest list, do you just drop some kind of fancy art or an Aston Martin love seat in your living room? Hell no. You park a Mercedes McLaren SLR in the living room as a display of obnoxious wealth. We're assuming he has it parked right next to the gilded unicorn and diamond-plated original Venus di Milo. Note also that this is the difference between new, douchey money, and real, "I can own your soul" money. [AbyssAndApex]

<![CDATA[How Many Guys Does It Take To Park A Mercedes McLaren SLR 722 GTR?]]> What do you do with an SLR 722 GTR? Yes, its a race car; but there's no real competitive series for it to race in. And you can't drive the GTR on the public street. So the only thing it's really good for is showing off, which apparently it isn't very good at either. Check out the video and you'll see just how many guys it takes to park a SLR 722 GTR at the NY Auto Show. Oh and also, they broke it. Epic fail.

<![CDATA[Renntech's Mercedes-McLaren SLR 722 Tweakage]]>

For years, Florida's RENNtech has long been the first stop for well-heeled Mercedes mavens and prospective road-rallyists who wanted an output boost for their SLs. But the company offers hi-po gear across the Merc range, from the lowly (not to us) Sprinter to the highbrow SLR. The SLR too? Right. Upgrades to the pride of Mercedes-McLaren 722 take the form of upgraded intercoolers and their respective pumps, allowing for more boost and putting the 722 (named after Stirling Moss's and Denis Jenkinson's starting time in the 1955 Mille Miglia of 7:22 am) closer to 722 horsepower. As for price, consult your tax accountant.

<![CDATA[Que Pasa, Bubba? Juan Pablo Coming to Nascar]]>

The fate of Mercedes-McLaren's F1 team, in an uproar since Fernando "soul patch" Alonzo announced he was coming on board in 2007, is becoming clearer. MMC's perennial sleeper, Colombia-born Juan Pablo Montoya, now says he will leave F1 for barbeque-stained pastures. Montoya won Indy in 2000, so it's clear he knows how to hang a left, a skill he'll get to exersize when he brings his latin mojo to the Sherwin-Williams-white Nascar next year. He and Indy 500 buddy Chip Ganassi will team up, as Montoya replaces Casey Mears in the #42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series for Chip Ganassi Racing. He may even enter some Busch Series races when his F1 season with McLaren-Mercedes ends later this year.

First Toyota, then Montoya? Who thought Nascar would become ground zero for multiculturalism? [Thanks to allenparkpete for the tip]
