    At least the Cougar8 had something (sort of) respectable underneath. A LeBaron? Ugh.


    What it does show that cheap American cars from 1990 could have looked halfway decent if anybody had really tried.

    I actually sent in a tip about a month or so ago about this. It's really not that uncommon.

    I remember seeing this in a kit car mag back in the day and thought it was kinda cool. And I also tried to come up with some cool hypothetical kit ideas myself (I think the best was the one that turned 3rd gen F body convertibles into Bentley Azures).

    I've always liked the early '90s SL. The kits to make a Lebaron look like an SL weren't all that uncommon. I think someone made a kit for the fox body as well.


    I always thought that the FWD was a travesty when duplicating a car that should rightfully be RWD. (the travesty of duplicating any car, notwithstanding)


    So the Fox would make a better base, but if I'm buying a rebodied fox, it would be a "real" rebodied fox.

    Sorry, I got a bit sidetracked there for a moment. Where was I? Oh, right. Lebarons suck. If you're going to have a rebodied suck, er, Lebaron, you might as well get a "real" one of them as well.

    Not that I condone buying a TC.


    It's getting to where you can find Allantes down near the $5k mark, if your heart is set on a high end FWD convertible. Fake Benz, or a real Cadillac?


    I know which would be my choice.

    Well, Mopar did offer a V8 conversion kit for the K-cars so that would solve that problem.


    The interior on the other hand is difficult to fix easily.


    BTW, this kit was also available for the fox bodied Mustang, so I'm not sure which would actually be worse.

    @fiat22turbo: At least the fox comes with a big-displacement V8 and RWD. The LeBaron never had any pretention of sportiness- it was NEVER cool. The Fox was cool. Once.
