Between the harelipped front and the Camry everything else, this monster is dangerously close to bland.

If Toyota wants to render anything cool, they're going to have to start from something less lukewarm than the Camry.

How about just dangerously close to Mazda's Nagare styling language?

Because no way does this come from the same design philosophy that birthed the intrepidly ugly RX350.

Hideous =/= cool, Ben. Unless it's an AMC product.

Seriously? Cheese-grater wheels? With blue-stripe tires? And silver taillights? And why are there glowing holes in the bumper?

Besides, it's still got that wart.

"Dangerously Close to Cool"......I don't think so.

This think looks plastic and sterile. Almost looks like what a Star Wars stormtrooper would drive on vacation.

Sure, I'll give you almost cool. But you know the thing that would really put this "hybrid" over the top. A jet engine. It's still a hybrid, just a jet-fuel/'lectric hybrid.

Given that the average Australian car is a snarling 400 HP turbocharged beast that runs on rage-ahol, I assumed that an "Australian hybrid" would be half-NASCAR half-Baja racer that is capable of occasionally transforming into a robot for the sole purpose of kicking hippies in the balls.

This...this does not live up to that expectation. Somewhere a solitary tear runs down Paul Hogan's leathery face.

The final ePRS (patent pending) of the day:

Toyota Australia, rebelling against their Japanese overlords, have produced a spiffy concept car for the Melbourne Motor Show.

The HC-CV (Hybrid Camry Won't Ever Be Built Like This) sets the stage for the launch of Australia's decline into battery/gasoline hell.

The president of Toyota Australia said this will be the most important vehicle on their stand at the motor show as it will keep people from falling asleep when they get within eyesight of the rest of their offerings.

The rest of the press release describes the car's body in excruciating detail. Toyota's PR people should be hired to describe Megan Fox's body.

No performance figures were given, proving that Toyota really doesn't care about car people.
