    I was at the Obama inauguration five months ago. I was standing at the corner of Independence and Third Street, waiting for a friend because I had tickets. And as I stood there, John McCain drove past me in his burgundy Cadillac CTS with Arizona plates.

    And love him or hate him, Obama is the first president from Illinois since Grant (Reagan was raised in Illinois but is generally considered to be "from" California).
