If this car is running with its original apex seals, it might be a Guiness World Record qualifier. If not, it might worth the price.

Yeah, it does look like a malformed Maverick. But compared some of the yawn-inducing sheet-metal Mazda shoveled our way in the 80s and 90s...it's very cool.

I say nice price. Consider what it has going for it: 13B, 5-speed, 2-door pillarless hardtop body, insanely low miles, period correct coloring and upholstery, rare...

Well, shoot - I thought I'd be the first one to say "Vega." Anyhoo, there it is. A Vega with an even more headache-inducing engine, if there could ever be one.

I'd still jump at it. Nice Price!

Not for me, but I voted nice price. The steering wheel plus the Frankenstein stitching on the gear shift boot, the sexy-time velor--what's not to love?

What the hell, that dashboard looks pretty modern. Change the materials and gauges and it would be right at home in a new car.

I voted nice price, and am apparently not alone. Truthfully, I wouldn't pay that much for it, since for the same money, there are cars that I would rather have, but for a true fan, you'll not find a better one. I've never priced out parts for an RX-4, but I'd venture a guess that you wouldn't be able to restore one to this level for under $18,500, and even if you could, a car can only be original once.

I have to lean towards nice price. You'll never find another one like this again, and nobody could reproduce it unlike most high buck muscle cars. But I'm admittedly a sucker for pre-85 Japanese iron (or tin depending on who you ask).

Geez, are any of these cars ever worth what the seller is asking? This one's nice and all ('cept for that cat vomit velour interior) but who wants a mazda-built celica poseur, especially one of the uglier big-bumper cars? Wouldn't you really rather have a nice RX2?

Admittedly, this comes with the 13B rather than the earlier Luce's 12A, but still that's one heavy mother. And there's still that interior . . .

    Crackpipe.

@graverobber- My Yugo Nova!: My backyard mechanic built up a hot-rod RX2. He ditched the Wankel (...and cue Mazda guys crying... now!) and put in a built-up Ford 4.0L V6 with a junkyard turbo that he removed off of, and I quote, "something Japanese". That is one of the very few cars that actually scared me, and scared me a lot. I suspect its 0-60 time would have been in negative numbers, because he took me for a drive, and when he launched it, I'm fairly certain my eyeballs got sucked into the back of my skull.

That really is a sublime example of a car that is all but absent on today's roads. Show condition in every way, shape, and form. It's also probably just as reliable as the best vehicles out today (maybe more so), so without hesitation, I'm going to say nice price.

Here it is folks, your "Nice Price" winner. That is amazing.

If this were an original Fiat or Triumph would there even be a question?

I'll answer that, "No!" If I had $18k to spend, I would be hard pressed to decide between this and a 3rd gen Rx7 for the money.

@layabout couldn't give a f**k: Well, this one cost 5800 wing-wangs in 1974, when a new Chevy could be had for about $3500. I'd say if the odometer reading is for real, this is a decent price for a museum-quality piece of Japanese steel.

@layabout met the real Santa: I'm struggling to remember if anything has been officially imported to the US as right hand drive.

Whereas some makers get away with selling only LHD cars to Brits, Japan and the UK basically have to build LHD versions of their cars if they want to have any presence at all in the world market.

Wait... you guys shift with your left hand? Does that mean it feels like someone else is doing it?

I think the early MG TC was RHD before they sold enough to justify the conversion, and Subaru sold some RHD Legacy wagons in the US for rural mail carriers.
