    Interestingly, 106mph is almost exactly where GM programmed my Suburban's computer to say, "You've had enough."

    If I could hit 106mph in a 1990 Taurus with ease, I see no reason why Matt Dillon couldn't do it in a car with at least 75 more HP.

    Yet another reason why American car companies are in trouble. The non-SS Impala tops out at 100mph? So his car would get smoked by a Nissan Maxima build back in the eighties? That is pretty crappy performance.


    In fact, this is only 10 miles an hour faster than I got a 1976 Datsun B210 up to once ;)

    @bynddrvn: It's electronically governed... unhindered I don't think it would have trouble reaching 135+. The SS tops out well over 150.

    It isn't that slow cars CAN'T hit those speeds, it's just that it takes them a long time to get there.


    I did (indicated)105 in an 84 Corolla FWD once. 70 RAMPAGING HORSES!

    As a former police officer, I can attest that the V6 Impala can easily achieve 110- 115mph. If the car was a slick top (LED's in the grille/back window)it can go slightly higher speed.
