Central Japan Railway’s magnetic levitation bullet train, otherwise known as Chūō Shinkansen has done it again. The new speed record stands at a whopping 374 mph (603 km/h).
This robot has been developed by Japanese researchers to take advantage of 'ground effects,' which allows the craft to hover off the ground at an extremely low height, thereby avoiding friction.
The trip from the LongYang Station just outside of downtown Shanghai to the Pudong International Airport is 30km (19mi) and takes roughly 40 minutes by car; the maglev travels this distance in roughly 7 minutes.
