Get off of your high horses. I'm looking forward to seeing the all new Grand Cherokee's next SRT-8 version.

Plus, it's got a fat ass.

There shouldn't be SS, R/T, SRT, GT, etc., etc., SUV's.
Trucks and SUV's are to pull trailers with the M3 to the track.
Making "high performance" SUV's is like putting a ClassV receiver hitch and a trailer brake controller on an M5.

Or the best way to destroy the brand.. since the X5, R class, Toureg / Cayenne, Panamera, Slade, Jeep Commander (of what),

But let's see what some of those ventures have done for them: the X5 is one of the top picks for poseurs who want an SUV, and the Cayenne made Porsche the VW owning goliath it is today, and gave us even better 911s and Caymans and Boxsters.

BMW's M werks used to be known for creating near supercars from BMW's line of fine road cars. Now they've gone off the reservation and hot rodded a couple of SUV's (don't argue with me, I'm the ePRS).
Both the X5 M and X6 M will be powered by the 4.4L V8 pushing 550 hp and 500 torques with pulse-tuned exhaust and twin twin-scroll turbos.
They are also outfitted with all wheel drive, or XDrive to be cool, as well as the Dynamic Performance Control system so soccer moms -- who have no reason to be in something this powerful, but who's husbands are cheating on them and feel guilty so they buy them these monstrosities even though they can barely drive the family Taurus -- don't kill the children.
This engine is cool in that it positions the turbos and the cats in the valley between the banks. Of course, this is like putting lipstick on a pig since this engine should be in the M3 and not an SUV. (I told you not to argue with me. It's an SUV, dammit, no matter what fancy-pants letters you want to put on it.)
Other features include the cliche paddle shifters. Brakes and a body are also included.

Mr. ePRS, can we just call it a truck?
Pleeeeaaaaase.

Sounds to me like it's a bunch of pretentious fanboys getting their panties in a twist about the direction BMW has been taking.

BMW makes sports saloons and demi-supercars.
Neither of which these are...

I'm a BMW fanboy, and as such I think that BMW has every right to build SUVs and hot rod said SUVs. My biggest beef with them is their SUVs can be kind of ugly. The first iteration of the X3 and X5 weren't too bad, but they seem to be getting bigger and more bloated.
A hot rodded SUV? Hell yeah. One of my guilty pleasures is the AMG R63. It's a freakin' minivan that gets to 60 in 4.5s.
An ugly hot rodded SUV? I'm not so sure.
I have no problem with carmakers branching into different segments, but they need to be careful and do so in a way that they keep their brand identity and brand DNA without bringing everything down with it.

Throw that engine in a sedan or coupe instead.
And, I'm starting a pool. I got twenty bucks on us seeing one of these on its back within three-weeks of its release to the public.
