Well, to be fair, BF Jr. had something to do with Mulally coming on board in the first place. He may not be front and center anymore, but probably deserves some credit.

    Not all, some.

The only thing I can remember Bill Ford contributing to FoMoCo that sticks out in my mind was the Mustang commercial he did. "All I need is a red convertible Mustang, with a throaty V8, and a killer sound system."

I always thought that sounded Spicoliesque.

It's stunning that people actually watch CNN and Fox news.

I mean what, you can think on your own?

You need to have shills piping your opinions into your brain?

Clearly television is the work of the devil and his favorite channels are Fox and CNN.

Bill Ford tried to improve fuel efficiency and implement sustainable practices. But the Board and investors decided that they'd rather keep slurping up the pickup and SUV profits. Good thing there was a little for them to fall back on.

He does benefit from having the same name as the company, though. Weird coincidence, huh?

They should have made an "intentional typo," like Toyoda did with Toyota. Forf Motor Company or something. Or Forb.

I love that Aston Martin (at the time, the only profitable part of the company) is being called a "weak brand." Does anyone on TV in America know anything about anything?

@bruxell: Aston was very strong, but they weren't going to be the savior of Ford making 8,000 Cars a year (and that number is prob. high). I doubt the average 'murican consumer would have made the connection between a Vantage and their Taurus anyways.

@Corvette_Thunder Can Haz a Bailout now?: It's not that I think Ford should have held on to Aston, they were a distraction from their business of making cars that sell in volume. It's just that "weak" isn't much of an apt description.

@layabout saaving Saab one caar at a time: Yeah, mostly since it was sold out to a group with limited experience in managing anything larger than a glorified race-team. Ford spent a lot of money making Aston into a profitable company, and then dumped it right when the cars were selling like hot-cakes. Again, as a long-term strategy, not a bad idea because you can make more money selling good Fords than you can good Astons, but it's not as if the brand, under Ford management, was underperforming.

@bruxell: I think it was 2004 that Aston turned in their first profits in their history,as you say Ford made them into a really great product. I wish they kept hold of them, but then i do like Ford as a company. Based on Euro Fords i like a lot of their cars.
