Meh. I think it looks a bit "Subaruish." If you REALLY want to buy a hybrid and you REALLY want leather, I say that this is fine. But buying a hybrid is a bad decicion in the first place, so it's a moot point.

And it'll sell. If they can sell ugly-as-sin next gen Rx, they can sell this little re-badged Prius.

okokok this is completely stupid!!!!! i rele dont see the point of getting a luxurious hybrid, except for the fact to make rich ppl feel better about what they are driving. Honestly if they care that much to go out and spend their money to go buy a lexus hybrid then they are being extremely hypocritical. lets say lexus sells this from 35K give or take a few thousand dollars....and then you look at a honda lot with their insight hybrid for 18K hmmmm lets do some math over here.. almost 17k difference...how much gas could you buy with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $17,000 of gas! even the prius is cheaper at 22k, and now ford is coming out with their hybrids and diesels can get 42+ mpg for alot cheaper price then what this lexus will probably cost..
how many years will u have to drive to break even the 17,000 dollars??? like seriously??? ppl would be rele stupid to get this car..theres seriously no point.. if ur looking to save money

I will point and laugh at every one of these I see on the streets of Chicago. The first Lexus/Toyota rebadging (ES250) was laughable and this HS 250h is just as absurd. A gussied-up Prius? What a joke!

What are the 14% and 45% from? What do your numbers mean? Do they take in to account relative market size?

The environmental impact of the engine depends on how much you drive it, no? It can't always be the case that the carbon footprint of the leather itself outweighs the engine's reduced emissions.

A hybrid with leather seats.

They do realize that while 14% of man-made carbon emissions comes from transportation, 45% comes from cattle farming, right?

Putting leather on those seats is a more environmentally damaging choice than putting a V-6 under the hood. It's staggering to think that people would spend a fair fortune to "help the environment," while unwittingly damaging the environment significantly more than any economy car driver.

Right that cattle farming is extremely damaging... wrong that is because of the leather.. it is because of the meat.

Although the amounts of leather in a car is much lower than most think (most "full leather" interiors are not full leather at all, just the steering wheel, the shift knob and parts of the seating, the rest is a leather look/feel alike)

I had high hopes for this model... personally I was hoping for a Lexus badges hybrid wagon... smaller than my RX, but bigger and a bit more refined than the Prius... but this just looks horrible. ugh.

I have to admit that it looks surprisingly tasteful. Awkward, but tasteful.

Now, it probably rides and handles like a snow tube, and the radio presets are stuck on NPR... but at least it won't blind me every time I pass one on the highway. (Or one passes me, then cuts me off without signaling.)

That being said, it's apparently impossible for anyone, especially Lexus, to have their own design language these days.

Toyota, as well as Honda, have learned their lesson well. If you are going to make a Hybrid Electric, it has to be different from the mainstream models to be successful. The Lexus Hybrids have been somewhat lackluster in sales, and the Camry Hybrid doesn't even approach the Prius sales numbers. So, introducing a Lexus Smugmobile. It should sell like proverbial hotcakes.

@UDMan: I don't know- this doesn't really look like a 'different' car, like the Insight, Prius, Volt. Looks like another Lexus, which I'm sure is important for brand image, but I don't know if it'll work as a hybrid.
