It's official. Toyota's Lexus luxury brand is conducting a voluntary recall of 138,000 vehicles. The recall, to replace faulty valve springs, affects the following models:
Toyota plans to recall approximately 270,000 Lexus and Toyota models over engines that could stall due to defective valve springs. Soon-to-be recalled models include the Lexus GS and LS, and Toyota Crown. [WSJ]
We've exclusively obtained this document detailing the plan for a stop sale of the 2010 Lexus HS250h and a voluntarily recall of all 17,000 vehicles sold following NHTSA testing showing excessive fuel leakage after a standard rear-end collision.
Rhonda Smith, the Lexus ES owner who tearfully testified her car was "possessed," sold the Lexus to another family. What's worse? Selling a car you think is safe that's a deathtrap or selling one you know is a deathtrap? [WSJ]
