    Five bucks says McLaren puts out a lousy season next year due to the competing egos of Button, and most especially, Hamilton.

    Somewhere, somehow, I see young Vettel coming from nowhere with no ego whatsoever, only a sincere desire to kick ass and take names, and doing precisely that.

    I could be wrong, though. It sure as hell wouldn't be the first time.

    To Mr. Button and Mr. Hamilton,

    Congratulations to the both of you on now having put together what is, seemingly, one of the strongest pairings of drivers in recent Formula 1 history. If you both work hard at pushing eachother, I am sure you can McLaren the dominant force in the sport.

    Now, allow me a sobering word or few-dozen.

    Do not ruin this by being egomaniacs. You are both famous. You are both talented. You both seem like relatively good people. Together, you can become what every good car manufacturer strives to make its cars: better than the sum of its parts. Alone, you can be famous. Yes. But together, you can replace something that has been missing of late from the world of professional sports: a great team.

    Winning is a goal, and it is entertaining. But true teamwork between two former rivals to achieve that same goal is inspiring.

    Please don't hate each other.

    Best of luck in the Spring.

    Can't say I blame you, Jens. Serendipity shined on you this season like no other in recent memory. You won the championship, bloody England is happy (somewhat) that they have back-to-back driver's champions, and now you're with the home team, racing for God and the Queen and all that.

    Enjoy being #2, make as much money as you can, stick around as long as the paychecks keep rolling in, and you have a wonderful life ahead of you as a rich, handsome champion racing driver. Be sure to use Ron Dennis as much as he plans to use you. Best of luck.

    I wish Button all the best, but he'll be number two at McClaren whilst their Golden Boy is still alive. It's a money thing, and I can't fault Button for making money, but this just doesn't sit well with me. I suppose it's why I hate the Yankees as well.

    @mr_dude: Really, no good? The same could be said for anyone with a shoddy car. Let's face it, F1 is mostly about the car and less about the driver. Make no mistake though, outside of Alonso and Hamilton, Button is arguably one of the best drivers.

    @Sloop_John_B: I think it's difficult to determine Button's past performance since his car was so completely out-moded. But if you compare Button's performance in the deplorable Honda's to Hamilton's performance at the beginning of this season in the shameful MP4-24, it is arguable that Hamilton was able to get more out of his car. Additionally, Button was dominant for the first half of this season when his car was brilliant. But at the end of the season when his car was on par with competitors, he started to fall back.

    @HammSammich: It's definitely tough to gauge since there are so many factors. But having multiple good seasons would be a good metric.

    Compare Button's 2 top 5's to Hamilton's 3 for 3 and Alonso's 5.

    I'm not saying he's bad, but I think he's only definitively proven he's good enough to stay in F1.

    if Button is given a good car (which McLaren can do) he's able to drive flawlessly. Give him a lesser car and he'll suck, he doesn't adapt to situations, something Hamilton is able to do. The point is: if McLaren can build an exceptional car next year, Button can be a winner just like Hamilton, if Mclaren fails to deliver a good car, Button will sink and Lewis will succeed (and win the internal race)

    @Peugeot 504 - the Car for Nigeria: Yeah there were some stalls and some questionable pit strategies. It's a totally qualitative assertion that he was simply more solid than JB.

    Of course, the spotlight was on Button so Rubens had it a bit easier.

    Ah yes, McLaren lineup with a reigning champ and Lewis Hamilton. That worked out so well for them the last time!

    I predict that the two of them won't be in speaking terms anymore by the end of June.

    NO NO NO.
    Damnit Jenson, you had a quality ride with the best director that F1 has seen in a long time with Ross Brawn. With or without Barrichello you were the undisputed #1 for the team.

    Now you'll go to McLaren and get to have cat fights with Lewis over who the team should revolve around, youll face even greater scrutiny since youre an englishman with an english team and Mclaren's cars this year weren't exactly fast off the line.

    Im sorry, I just never get this, Guy finds success with team with good chemistry and package, wins title, jumps ship. Heres an idea, STAY with the current team that got your ass to the top and then you can WIN MORE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

    @Corvette_Thunder: That's pretty much how I felt too, but I also get the impression that Brawn just wasn't begging him to stay. I think both camps had endgames of their own to consider. Having said that, I'm really hoping (perhaps against hope) that this team works well together, because I like both drivers and supported McMerc in '08 before Brawn GP came along.

    @Bullitt417: Ca$h is the obvious reason of course, but any extra by going to Mclaren will only make up for finishing behind Lewis and the possibility of fewer endorsements.
