The ovoid LCDs don't just look good, but they could allow for customizing instrumented data. Of course, the technology is far from being integrated into your next vehicle purchase, but it's good to see the baby steps being taken. [Ubergizmo]

<![CDATA[Toyota Night Vision System Recognizes Pedestrians]]> Toyota's Crown Hybrid is getting one hell of a feature that will make the walkers of the world happy: night vision pedestrian recognition. Complex pattern recognition system cameras will recognize when pedestrians are walking alongside the road and put a nice yellow square around them on a camera view on the driver-side LCD instrument panel. The ideal driving speed for the system to work is between 10 and 40 mph, so the system is pretty useless hauling ass through a park Bruce-Willis-action-movie style. It only recognizes pedestrians, but Toyota is working on an advanced version that would be capable of recognizing bicycles and animals, as well. With gas prices going bonkers, the roads will be clogged with more and more pedestrians and bicyclists, so any extra precautions could be helpful for dealing with the gangs of hobos sure to be wandering our roads as the dollar weakens. <![CDATA[We'd Question The Legality Of A 15-inch Windshield LCD]]> 300zx-screen.jpgAny AutoX'er can testify that the Nissan 300zx is one heck of a fun car to drive. With that being said, we're baffled that one particular Boston 1991 Nissan 300zx owner would feel the need to install a 15-inch LCD screen right in the view of the windshield. Sure, there's space to the left and right to, you know, see the road and all, but in some states hanging cardboard pine trees from the rear-view mirror is deemed illegal and we'd hate to see what the police had to say about this ridiculous mod. Nevertheless, it could be yours for $5,000.

After doing some more digging, and by digging I mean looking at the seller's MySpace page, it seems the gothastic owner has an affinity for Slipknot, bad tattoos, stars, and appears to have created a brand called "Super F*ck." The logo also adorns the door panel of the 300zx. This guy needs some help. [Craigslist via Carscoop]

<![CDATA[LCD Rims: TV for the Tires]]> Remember what we said about finding the tasteful stuff among the endless supply of aftermarket glitz here at SEMA? We lied. The above video clip indicates what can happen when technology meets the world of dumbass automotive accouterments. The idea is to use these TV rims as a new mode of over-the-road product messaging, though we'd imagine all sorts of uses, like displaying other cars' rims, Japanese tentacle-rape porn or random shots of vegetables. The possibilities are endless.
