    Sorry to rant.. Futurists have predicted this downturn for years. We are coming off the longest sustained economic growth in history. Long and sustained was good while it lasted but unfortunately bad habits were developed and less preparation was done about the future. We made our bed now we have to lay in it. Were setting the stage for another future crisis as children are being labeled a "problem" and more and more tax dollars go to planned parethood(s). As our birth rate slowly declines towards our death rate we won't have the strong young bucks to work and pay taxes to fund the retirements and welfare programs of the future. Why can't we learn from eurasia's mistakes? We still have to fix social security...

    @Trembler: Whoa whoa whoa! All this hate? This economic downturn is easily rectified, my good man: we use old people as our primary fuel source.


    Its cheap, renewable, and can't remember to take its medicine anyway. Right into furnaces they go to warm our homes, just shove one or two down the gas filler in your car and you're off!


    ...Though I wonder if using the elderly as a substitute for petroleum would make for cars that only go 40 and leave their left hand blinkers on constantly. Oh, and shit themselves.

    One bright sentiment: if the economy can knock off enough Mercury, Buick, Pontiac, and GMC dealers, GM may be able to more easily shed those redundant brands, saving huge chunks of cash and ending with a far less fractured product array.

    Granted, a huge part of this was corporate/wall street greed and government overspending, but the truth is, it is America as a whole that is responsible for this. We just kept spending our money without actually pausing to think how much money we could afford to spend, let alone whether or not we had that money in the first place, and that is why we are in this shitty situation.


    If you want to see the guilty, look in the mirror the next time you are in the bathroom. Look to your left and right as you walk down the street. Look at your neighbors whose homes are being foreclosed because they tried to buy a house that was beyond their ability to afford.

    Kind of sad that Hyundai was probably a footnote to his total sales. I just read last night that the Sonata is up 85% in sales vs. January 08. And the Santa Fe is up around 60%. UP! Most of the credit was given to that new Assurance plan.


    Bill Heard was a pretty big deal around Columbus, GA where he started--obviously it's a different viewpoint with his franchises. At least there he was "Sketchy dealership owned by a local"
