I like this trend. More car content on Letterdude, pls. Now that Leno is going off air, pop culture needs its other gearheads to step up.
As far as Lutz goes, good for him I guess, but going balls-out to defend a car that won't be on sale for two years and whose pricing model is up in the air might be acceptable for Tesla, but it's not too becoming a leader of GM. If he isn't using this appearance to break some real, good news about pricing or availability, I don't think people are going to be too thrilled to hear hype and hypotheticals from a bailout baby.
@FlakJack: Go to the Chevy website and wait for the flash vid to load.
First you'll see a Camaro and then a Volt (Coming 2010).
They have no problem telling everyone what they have coming out a year (at best) from now. And considering their current situation, I don't blame them.
@philipmein: Am I so off the mark here? The current date GM is giving is November 2010 -- not really far from "two years" from now and a date that is, I'm sure as it has been all along, subject to change. Not to mention that recent news out of GM points to a very small 2010 production run and perhaps five cities in which the Volt will be sold. The point being -- perhaps GM ought not strain their credibility too much by flogging hard for a vehicle with a lot of questions marks and one that most folks won't be able to buy for a long damn time.
But as you suggest, maybe it's a question of what do they have to lose anyway?
Why don't we all just use the most petrol we can, and when it's gone, it's gone. Fuck our great-grandchildren. Let them live in a post apocalyptic zombie infested world.
Pft, the L-39 Albatross is just a trainer, not an actual fighter, and it's a Czech jet at that! Freakin' commie poser! If he had at least shaved off the tip tanks and did an engine swap to get a few more seconds off the Unlimited course I'd have a little respect for the guy...
@Skunky: Y'know it just occured to me, the plane he's pictured with isn't even an L-39, wing and engines are in the wrong order. The pic I posted is an actual L-39, sans tip tanks.
