The IMSA GTV Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 is a Gallardo LP 560-4 with IMSA-style racing wheels, carbon fiber doo-dads scattered around, and a stainless steel exhaust adding 29HP and 15 lb-ft of torque. Kinda reads like our fake Lexus LFA.

The car is based on Lamborghini's height-adjustable sports chassis and gets some ravishingly expensive central locking wheels, a carbon fiber body kit of some extent, bespoke spoiler and carbon fiber seats along with interior carbon fiber widgets. The polished stainless steel exhaust is the only performance improvement, adding 29HP and 15 lb-ft of torque to the output of the 5.2-liter V10 for a total of 581 HP and 413 lb-ft of torque. The roofless Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder is finally hitting the streets, but is the 560 HP, 5.2-liter V10-equipped convertible a boulevard poseur or can this drop-top bull run with the best from Sant'Agata?

It certainly looks the part. With a sprint to 60mph taking only 4 seconds flat, 124mph approaching in 13.1 seconds and a top speed of 201mph, it's got plenty to back up those adorably good looks. Fifth Gear Plows Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Through The Snow

We want to be like Tiff Needell when we grow up. In this week's Fifth Gear, Tiff gets his hands on a green Lamborghini LP560-4 he calls Kermit and hits the snow, sans traction control.

The Fifth Gear crew (apparently also known as "Top Gear" to one confused writer over at Edmunds Inside Line) heads to the snowy Italian Alps with the 5.2-liter V10-powered 552 HP Lambo, and proceeds to the nearest ice track.

Of course he gets the Lambo wide open without traction control as soon as possible, because honestly, who among us wouldn't? But, when that novelty wears off, Tiff turns the stability nannies back on to see just how good the raging bull is on the slippery stuff. Turns out it's darn impressive at protecting you from yourself, juggling power output, brake control and all-wheel-drive bias to keep the car going in the proper direction.

But what fun is that? By the end of the clip the traction control accidentally comes off again and it's oversteer and rooster tails all around. [WCF]

Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo To Be Fastest One-Make Series

If you've got $260,000 in between the couch cushions then Lamborghini suggests you drop that money on the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing series set to launch on May 3 at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK. For that change you get a track-modified Lamobrghini LP 560-4 stripped down to 2,800 pounds and sporting 570 HP to race against 29 other similarly setup vehicles in the fastest one-make series in the world. That sum, sadly, does not cover fees or taxes. Act now because one of those vehicles is reserved for a "celebrity guest" and we're hoping that definition will be stretched to include automotive journalists. Lamborghini Super Trofeo Impressive results in early testing

Automobili Lamborghini has today announced The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo – the world’s fastest one-make series. The series will debut in May 2009, and feature Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo: a lightweight version of the Gallardo LP 560-4 super sports car launched earlier this year. The Super Trofeo will come with a reworked chassis, significantly reduced weight of only 1300 kg, and power output of 419 kW (570 hp) from its V10, ‘Iniezione Diretta Stratificata’ engine.

Lamborghini has a clear objective to ensure the Super Trofeo is the fastest one-make series in the world.

The race car will feature Lamborghini’s permanent four-wheel drive, making the Super Trofeo the only one-make, all-wheel drive motorsport series. Lamborghini will build cars for a 30-strong grid, available to individual professional and ‘gentleman’ drivers, as well as Lamborghini dealer teams. The first competition of the 2009 provisional calendar will run on 3 May at Silverstone Circuit in the UK, followed by Adria in Italy on 17 May; Nuremburg’s Norisring in Germany on 5 July; Spa in Belgium on 2 August; Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya in Spain on 20 September; and culminating on 4 October in Monza, Italy. With the Swiss watchmaker as title sponsor, The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will run over European race weekends alongside other prestigious series such as the FIA GT Championship, DTM and FIA WTCC (World Touring Car Championship). Either one or two drivers can register for each three-day race weekend, comprising of free practice and qualifying
sessions, and three 40-minute races during Saturday and Sunday. The results of the three races are added together: no success ballast is added to winning cars, and the cars cannot be modified during the season.

The Super Trofeo car and parts package is offered at 200,000 euro plus tax and entry fee, via Lamborghini dealerships, with support and parts trackside. The prestigious ‘Lamborghini Village’ will provide a luxurious paddock package in true Lamborghini style, for drivers, sponsors and guests.

The Super Trofeo race car is based on the Gallardo LP 560-4, powered by the new 5.2 litre V10 direct injection ‘Iniezione Diretta Stratificata’, engine, generating an increased output of 419 kW (570 hp). Its power flows through the e.gear six-speed robotized gear box to the permanent all-wheel drive with viscous traction.

The Super Trofeo is a top-class race car in every detail. Its chassis, featuring double wishbone suspension all round, has been reworked specifically for the purpose. The slick tyres are supplied by Pirelli and a specialist racing brake system provides brutal stopping power. The race car weighs in at only 1,300 kg dry, despite its additional safety cage. Additional body components such as the large, fixed rear wing are made from carbon-fibre composite. The cockpit includes ultra-light racing seat, racing steering wheel and specialized instruments.

We saw the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder a bit earlier today, but now we've got the official details and the live reveal photos from the LA Auto Show. The LP 560-4 Spyder boasts the same 560 HP, 5.3 liter V10 with 398 lb-ft of torque, all-wheel-drive, and slick shifting sequential manual transmission as the normal LP 560-4 but pops the top to give it a more So-Cal flair. Rightly so, as 30% of all Lambo's are sold in the currently smoky southern part of California and we're betting a good percentage of those going forward will be wearing the "Spyder" badge. Automobili Lamborghini Debuts Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder at the Los Angeles Auto Show

Automobili Lamborghini, creator of the world’s most exclusive super sport cars, today held the worldwide debut of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560—4 Spyder at the Los Angeles Auto Show. As the successor to the best-selling Lamborghini of all time, the new LP 560-4 Spyder combines the Coupé’s design, performance and handling characteristics with the open-air pleasure only a soft top super sports car can deliver.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder Drops Top Ahead Of LA

The Lamborghini LP 560-4 Spyder's dropped its top in press photos that have made their way to the web ahead of an expected debut later today at the LA Auto Show. The newest amped-up Lambo gets the body of Gallardo convertible and the powertrain of the LP 560-4, that means a 5.2-liter V10 engine with 560 HP and 398 lb-ft of torque, good for a top speed of 201 MPH after a 0-62 MPH run of a speedy 4 seconds. Awfully speedy in the hardtop but we'll have to see how that stands up for the convertible.

The most amusing part of the whole car, to us anyway, is the piece of glass between the seats. Normally those are put back there to keep your hair in place and allow a conversation to carry on. In this case it'll probably do the first job fine, but we have a feeling an open top with a that high strung Italian V8 wailing away inches behind your head will have something to say in all your conversations. We'll be getting the complete details and live reveal images with the always lovely Lamborghini booth professionals later today at the car's official reveal.

First US Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Delivered To New York Developer Benny Caiola, Jr.

The first Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 in the United States, an all-white copy of the latest raging bull, has landed in the hands of collector Benny Caiola, Jr. The 560 HP, all-wheel-drive supercar will be making its home outside of New York City, beside bull-headed cars like Lambo's Jalpa, Countach, Espada, Diablo, Miura and others. It's obvious Benny's a long time fan of the Italian bovine, saying "I've loved Lamborghinis my entire life and have owned nearly every model." There's a joke about old Jaguars that goes "Why do you always buy two Jaguars? To have one to drive while the other's in the shop." We're betting Benny has many, many Lambos for the same reason. 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, Reviewed

Our friends over at Popular Mechanics spent the weekend behind the wheel of the bull-headed god of white lightning we first fell in love with at the Geneva Motor Show — the 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. So what did they think of the new Lambo and the just-as-new 5.2-liter V10 and its 560 HP and 398 lb-ft of torque?

What do you think they thought — it sucked? Hmm, wethinks not. And we'd be right. PopMech's Basem Wasef thought the LP560-4 was an "entertaining drive at any speed." Specifically,

"when revs are high and the V10 is working hard, the LP560-4 is in its element, though it exhibited more flexibility at lower rpms than we were expecting. Launch control is activated with ESP off, Corsa mode selected and both pedals depressed until the engine revs to 5000 rpm; lift the brake, and you'll be whacked into your seat with a thud of satisfying, skid-free acceleration."

Translated from Mechanicsese, we're pretty sure that means it plays nice on both the track and the regular roads. Lamborghini Picks Los Angeles For U.S. Headquarters Despite Potential For Interruption Of Italian Afternoon Naps

Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini was in the city of angels on Friday for the press event launching the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. While in town, Winkelmann dropped the news that Lambo's finally decided to create a separate sales arm for their North American operations. What took them so long? Our little slice of the global pie of land mass represented 41% of sales of the 2,406 units sold last year by the bull-headed brand and California represented almost one-third of those. So, where else would they choose to place their new U.S. headquarters? Detroit? Right, not so much. But Stephan did have at least one concern about plopping the new HQ in L.A., "we will have to wait until the afternoons to call California from Italy." Yes, well, sucks to be Stephan, right? Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 North American Premiere

We've seen the new Lamborghini LP560-4 at Geneva, but that didn't stop us from checking it out again here in New York for its North American debut. Yes, the updated V10 makes 552 HP. Yes, the new car weighs 44lbs less than the original Gallardo. But none of that really matter unless you're behind the wheel on an open road. So why is it that we can't get enough of the little Lambo?

Simply put, the LP560-4 is gorgeous. This isn't just a mid-cycle model refresh that's been tacked on, its a series of subtle tweaks that make the Gallardo feel like a baby Reventon. The new shade of matte white paint is fantastic. Plus, it's soothingly smooth to the touch. And after all, we sure are suckers for good-looking, unattainable Italian... cars.

With nary a word spoken, and just a quick-cut video of popping champagne bottles and various sheetmetal angles, Lambo took the velvet sheet off black and white versions of its new, faster, lighter Gallardo — the LP560-4. As we already know, it's got a 5.2-liter V10 560 ps (552 hp). We've yet to corner the Lambo people to get the dirt on what makes this engine similar to the Audi RS6's V10, so suffice to say the LP560-4 is lighter than the base Gallardo by around 44lbs and comes in at least two "colors." Five out of five statuesque Italian models agree.

Among the cacophony of forklifts, last-minute hammering and terse words barked in romance tongues, they captured the yet-to-be-unveiled, yet completely uncovered, Lamborghini Gallardo LP560. Word is the name comes from Lamborghini's tweaked 5.2-liter V10 producing 560 metric horses, with the dash-four standing in for its four-wheel-drive gear. The talk is of a lighter, faster Gal that's undergone a mild facelift with cues from the six-figure Reventon bodywork.
