Dude, too bad the Mustan movie we made didn't work out huh?

It's cool, we still have the Subby to drive.

That's pretty much driving in rural Michigan. We didn't have all wheel drive cars when I was a youngster so I had to do that shit with a BMW 2002. The Plymouth Arrow and a few Novas did pretty well too.

Well, without the fireworks. I did flatten all four tires one day when I missed a corner at speed and jumped a curb into a field.

The lord protects idiots and drunks. Drunk idiots get special protection, I guess.

The stack of space-saver spares in the corner of the garage sets the tone pretty well. I lol'ed. Nice one, Kyle!

And frankly, while Ken Block is pretty good at what he does, he's also got an enormous ego that practically demands to be brought down a bit like this. Travis Pastrana is a much nicer guy, and (IMO) the better driver, too.

I was all set to say, "That's exactly how I drive when I've left my work keys at the house," until I saw the mouthbreathers throwing tarps and driving on the shoulders.

Funny is good, but tossing junk out and endangering other drivers is unexcusable. The upside is, there's plenty of easily identifiable face shots in the vid, so it's just a matter of time before some enterprising cop drags the dumbass in. Here's hoping it comes soon.

So I guess I'd have to agree. He's an ass.

@Elhigh: I'm with you on that one. I'm OK with the parts shot on empty gravel roads and quarry / abandoned industrial areas but the part shot in traffic is nothing short of criminal.

Bet those motorists behind him loved that tarp on the road.... and blowing through stop signs is cool too...

In reply to 2009 Sno*Drift Rally: Michigan's Great Motorsport Secret
Meanwhile, in Dearthair's Canuckistan.....the 2009 Canadian Rally Championship got underway over the weekend. The Quebecois team of Antoine L'Estage and co-driver Nathalie Richard won the Rallye Perce Neige, in their Rockstar Energy Drink liveried 2009 Mitusbishi Evo X. I may be mistaken, but I believe that is the 1st rally win anywhere in the world for the Evo X.

@Kelan Adachi & fodder650: Actually, you'll find that that Tiburon is indeed AWD as he ran in Open (i.e., 4 driven wheels & major engine mods). From Tanner's website: "[Tanner] Foust, with co-driver Chrissie Beavis, drove a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon prepared by rally legend, John Buffum's Libra Racing..." which sounds like the same Tiburon unibody w/Mitsubishi Open AWD system that L'Estage won Sno*Drift with last year and did well in years previous.

Also, looks like front and rear wheels are being driven in this pic:

I swear you guys only picked that Subaru for the topic image 'cause of the Vermont plates. There's so much cooler stuff to choose from.

@Landau_Calrissian is a Plastic Paddy: More than one Jetta, of course, are "Jettae". My uncle's had A1, A2, and A3 Jettae and an A3 Golf; he came up with the pluralizations and I'm stickin' with 'em.

Simply a wonderful event...and I knew nothing of it until I saw rallye cars-o-plenty bookin' it up I-75. And THANK GAWD for Jalopnik or I would have had to search the far corners of the Earth to figure out what the hell was going on...and now, I will be at this event next year for sure! I mean, it would be stupid for me NOT to go when my new pad is only like fifteen miles away! I am really starting to dig this "up north" stuff.

@citroen67_now available with T-bar Roof!: Pastrana's & Block's Subie team (Vermont Sports Car) wasn't booking it; they almost didn't make it!

I heard Pastrana's car only made to Tech 1/2 hr before it closed!

When we past them on I-75 Thursday PM, I remember commenting, "They're usually up there by **Wednesday**, not today...
