    When the kids were little, we spent some time with a 365GT 2+2. Clean design, all the right Ferrari V12 noises from under the hood, plenty of back seat legroom and ice cold air conditioning. Unfortunately, they're not $40k anymore but still a great bargain for what they represent.

    When I have kids, I'll have to amputate their legs just above the knees when they're young, so they can fit in the back of my XJS throughout their formative years. Or I'll just have to get my Checker/Jaguar hybrid finished before it becomes an issue.

    Ok this is a brilliant column. Just sheer brilliance really. I mean, of course you would own an Espada as a family car. If I had $40k - no question it would be that over an X5 any day.


    And that 456 - OMG - I have wanted one of those since I was a very small child myself. I love that car. It is so deceptively beautiful it will make you pant.


    But can I also just point out - that last picture. That is a 599 parked ON THE STREET, and not one, but I believe 2 - TWO! - Lamborghinis driving by...


    Sold. I'm moving to Knighstbridge post-haste - if only for the scenery.

    @combat chuck: I don't know what they sell for in the US these day but in London, they charge £1.15 for an original glazed. Which I call a lot of money. Still, you don't consider the price of a DRUG, do you?

    @Peter Orosz: I never really understood why people like Krispy Kreme so much. When my friend in Illinois first introduced me to the confection (before they were nationwide) he made them sound almost orgasmic. Don't get me wrong, they're plenty good, but they're just doughnuts.


    And yes, that is a lot of money for just one. I can buy a dozen day-olds from the local grocery store for that much (well, a little more: about $2 plus tax). A little bit stale, but just as fattening.

I'm not really a donut/cake/cookie person, but that was a fucking amazing experience. I kept letting other people cut in front of me in line so I could stand there longer and keep getting free donuts.

    456M GT is my favorite modern Ferrari. I want one. Bad. You can get them for $60-80k these days.


    My kids, if/when I have any, if I've taught them right will thank me, even though they'll be cramped in the backseat.
