Kia Amanti. Hey, it's Italian. No? Oh. it just sounds Italian. Y'know, like "Armani" or "Amalfi" or "Volare"--wait, it's Korean? Kia. Kinda like "Ghia" but just not. Not really.
@Theimbellis: I gassed up this morning next to a mid-90s Lexus GS. It was striking how simple things used to be. 15" wheels just wouldn't fly today--not if you expect someone to spend $40k+ on a luxury sports sedan.
I'm not sure why we continue to be surprised by Kia's design. Even though they're not breaking any new ground, they've been pretty solid with all of their recent cars, from the cee'd to the Soul to the Forte to this.
Damn you Kia! You and your fancy-pants styling that actually looks good! How am I supposed to hate you and make snarky remarks about a car that I actually don't mind?
Instead, I'm going to have to revert to nitpicking to make myself feel better. Like scoffing at 277-hp since the Taurus SHO will be getting 365 hp or thereabouts. I will, however, refrain from making some xenophobic remarks about the angle of the headlights.
@elwood: 263 is expected for the 2010 Taurus in base trim.
I wasn't trying to make a fair comparison. In fact, if anything, I was trying to be unfair. I don't want to like a Kia, but this car is actually attractive, so I've resorted to unfair comparisons and ridiculousness to keep myself from saying something like, "This car might actually make it on my list of cars to consider in the future."

That's just like a beaten-up '86 Chrysler van with gigantic 28" chromes.

When it comes time to replace the tires, just buy a new car. Just like an HP injket printer.

Hardly a fair comparison.

Peter Schreyer is making Kia more German than the Germans.
