The 56th Fighter Wing out of Luke Air Force Base have been pretty active showing off their new toys, these $100M+ F-35A Joint Strike Fighters. Their counterparts over at the 161st Air Refueling Wing, nicknamed the “Copperheads,” took some folks with cameras aboard their KC-135Rs to showcase the new jet:
A civilian Boeing 707 tanker aircraft contracted by the Navy and loaded with 158,000 pounds of fuel crashed on takeoff at Point Mugu Wednesday, destroying the aircraft. All three crewmembers survived with only minor injuries. The NTSB is investigating.
