My wife has a lifted Jeep Liberty that she takes off road pretty much every chance she gets. She loves it when people check it out.
My stupid $250 beater Astro (poop brown window van) sports a poorly done A-Team van stripe. People are always tell me how cool it is, young ladies slow down to take a closer look and wave. It's just a stupid stripe, but it's fun. Can't wait to break out the paint rollers and do it up proper.

1) Building our own movie car replica = dweeby.
2) Using the wrong car for a movie car replica = lame.
3) An Ecto-1 that's not based on the iconic 1959 Cadillac Ambulance = pointless
4) Making a Magnum look silly = cruel.
Dweeby = .5 stupid
Lame = 1.75 stupid
Pointless = 1.2 stupid
Cruel = 1.0 stupid.
0.5 x 1.75 x 1.2 x 1.0 = 1.05
1.05 > 1.0
There you go, beyond stupid.

I really don't want to be snarky, because it takes a fair amount of fanboy love and dedication - however arguably misplaced - to clone a movie car. But a Dodge Magnum Ecto-1, really? I get that a '59 Miller-Meteor is unobtanium these days, but if you're a true fan of a show, you should realize some things are just better left alone. Otherwise why not use an Aerostar or AMC Eagle. Or a Pruis or hell even my Freestyle.
I am reminded of Tyler Durden: "Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken."

"In 1984, the car Ray Stanz found for the Ghostbusters had just turned 25. So, pretend it's not happening until now, 2009: You have to find a 25-year-old functional beater to use. What car from 1984 would work?"
We never realized how *brilliant* the Ecto-1 is, and how wretched the cars of 1984 were, until trying to answer this question. AMC eagle was arguably the best choice. Ford Aerostar would have one the "2010 (to 1985) edition". Try it. There really is no substitute.

It's no secret that the job market has taken a massive hit these past few years. And who are the most likely to lose their jobs? Women. Because like it or not, we live in a very sexist society that places little emphasis on your work or your ability to positively contribute to the world if you don't have male genitalia. It doesn't matter if that douchebag with male genitalia is an abject moron that does not know his thumb from his male genitalia. The simple fact is that he has male genitalia. The result? A lot of brilliant and capable women were robbed of their jobs, and have been forced to find other means of supporting themselves. Even if that means temporarily dating a dork that actually has a job that pays well enough for him to afford to recreate a dorkmobile to tool around with on weekends.
Poor women. They always get the poop end of the deal.

Well said, mr.pauljones. Remind me not to shake hands with that moron who doesn't know his thumb from his genitalia.

It'd be worth it just to brighten the days of anyone who gazed upon me in it, cruising around looking for raptors, weilding a SPAS-12 and a stern look.
Robert Muldoon is my hero.

Well if we're all coming out, I once brought a phaser to a gun fight.

Bob Peck (the actor who played Muldoon) died ten years ago this year. On the anniversary of his death, my friends and I made it our mission to work as many Muldoon quotes as possible into our daily conversations.
