JET ENGINE
”Might We Interest You In A 3,800 HP Jet Powered Motorcycle?
Holy. Sweet. Fireballs. We thought that twin Rolls Royce powered Star Raider was nuts (and a bit on the geeky side), but take one of those engines, put it on two wheels, add a freakin' afterburner and you get this jet powered drag bike. Yet again we are in awe of the Aussie ability to assuage common sense in favor of unadulterated holy-shit-awesome. Mad Ron Laycock is the father of this beast, a contraption still in the works but able to toss some serious flames, we cannot fathom the idea of running this at a strip. 3,800 HP jet bike — you see how easily that rolls off the tongue? You may now quip about Mr. Laycock's name.[MadV8Bike]
Star Raider Blasts Alien Scum With Jet Engines
This sci-fi wet dream is Star Raider, a ground act for the 2007 Naval Base Ventura County Air Show. The dragster is powered by two Rolls Royce Viper jet engines and driven by builder and owner Bruce Abbott. Why it's shaped like a melted Buran and runs at air shows is anybodies guess, but the key point here is two jet engines on a drag racer. That's some serious thrust there, a little digging around tells us the least thrust one of these babies puts out is 2000 lbs. Double that and tweak for more power and you've got the makings for a face stuck in permasmile.[Air and Space and MagicalPower]

Cadillac to 1959: We Gotcha Jet Age Right Here
Like getting the double guns from your least favorite uncle, Cadillac blasted the unsuspected public with the faux double jet-engined 1959 Cyclone concepts. Looking like a cross between a land speeder and the Thrust SCC, these jet age beasts comes in two flavors: bubble top and befinned or convertible and flat decked. The longer, lower, wider mantra was mixed with hallucinogens to fabulous result for these twins. Just look how low the seats are in the bubble top after the jump! We're not saying there is no love for the latest Art-and-Science designed Caddies, but based on these cars, one might say the new ones lack a certain braggadocio.More »
