In reply to Jay Leno Filming For Top Gear's Star In Reasonably-Priced Car
Question: What would it do to the British psyche if Leno, a damned, dirty American, should turn the fastest lap in Star in a Reasonably Priced Car?

He's in the UK for Goodwood, as we already know. And now, for moving pictures!

Speaking of Jay, yesterday's Hollywood Reporter said that the soundstage for his new primetime show is being outfitted to accomodate a car, and that Jay will drive onstage some nights. (Before you get all excited, though, we may have to suffer through some "product placement" rides alongside stuff from Jay's collection.)

10 bucks says Jeremy will be awestruck and hanging onto his every word like he was with Michael Stigmacher.

Or, he might just be too frightened by Jay's automotive prowess, just like he was frightened by Mark Wahlberg.

I saw "Jay Leno" and immediately thought, "Crap, Jay died too?"

I'm glad I kept reading the headline. This should be an interesting interview!

@engineerd: Actually I think there are a bunch of car guys waiting for Leno to die to get ahold of some of his collection. He really just needs to put in his will that his car collection be turned into a museum where you can buy sponserships with driving privilages.

@P161911 now with M POWER!: That is a fantastic idea. Wow, I would so buy a sponsorship just to drive the Type 57 Atalante.

@engineerd: I'm thinking it could be a tiered thing for a few hundred bucks you get a few days a year to drive Honda S800s, NSUs, Tatras, maybe a few old muscle cars all the way up to $$$^3 (but a fraction of the actual car cost) to drive the Dusenbergs, Type 57 Atalante, Mclaren F1, etc. Have to pass driver traing for each car, get Haggerty or somebody like that to sponser the insurance.

@P161911 now with M POWER!: We should call Jay and position ourselves as the operators of this venture.

Actually, considering Jay likes to actually drive his cars he might be down with doing this while he was alive.

I'm worried about this. The last time he was on Top Gear, when James interviewed him on the topic of the FCX Clarity, he came off as a bit rude. He seemed to think that all British car enthusiasts drove Triumphs and MG's, when in reality they all drive German, French and Japanese cars now.

I can't wait for this. Jay Leno is the man. He has a kitchen in his garage. I love it.

I'd like to see him drive the tank car around the track too.

Is he going to show off any of his own cars?

I know you can check them out at Leno's Garage.

@Quattro-luvr: The only thing is, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like Jay doesn't actually drive almost any of the cars he owns. I would die for a car collection as nice as Jay's, but I believe cars are meant to be driven at least once and a while, not stored in a garage for their entire lives.

@NcSchu: I'm pretty sure that all of Jay's cars are drivers and he drives them on a regular basis. You used to see some of them on the Tonight Show occasionaly. There is a video of him pulling up to a club/resturant in LA in a Model T tell the valet "You don't know how to drive this" I think he even drives the steam cars fairly often. Maybe he just drives them for magazine articles, web videos, any car TV show, and Tonight Show props, but I doubt it.
