"First, the split-bumper Camaro isn't exactly the most prized generation of the storied nameplate - far from it. Many consider this to be one of the more unattractive Camaros."
What? What are you smoking? Which Camaros are MORE attractive than a split bumper 2nd gen?
I nominate the raccoon-eyed early 4th gen Camaros as BY FAR the most unattractive Camaros ever. Nothing comes close. An early 2nd gen is poor man's Ferrari. Early 4th gens are Ford Probes with thyroid problems...
Last time we had someone on a serious quest for the truth we had a decent five seasons, three lousy ones, one good movie and one lousy movie.
And a serious crush on Scully.
Hey, I feel for the guy. If I could have my Dad's old SAAB 96 back, I wouldn't hesitate. I loved that car. The exact one, not a decent representative of the breed.
For YEARS now I've wanted to go back to Montreal for the sole purpose of tracking down the crappy franken-bicycle i rode around for a whole summer in college. It's an impossible proposition, especially because it's worth no more than five dollars (i think i paid 20 for it), it was the absolute wrong size for me, it was mere miles (sorry, kilometers) away from collapsing in on itself, and there's the potential terror of its current owner being A FRENCH CANADIAN, but still.
i would go back for it.
and it's just a gay bike! his pizza gives me gas but otherwise i know how this guy feels.
@Otto-Mann: 'tis why I'm not letting go of The Chopper. The other one I brought back to the creator's family's yard and it got scrapped... but this one's mine. All mine.
Don't EVER let your "first car" get away. Even if it pisses off the sig. other(spouse, gf/bf, etc.). Mine's PLENTY pissed I still have it.
A friend of mine recently found his first car in a junkyard. He was thinking about pulling it out and "restoring" it, until he saw the underside. The frame was all f'ed up from where they picked it up with the front end loader. It made him sad, but he didn't want to do it because of the frame damage.
@chucky2jimmy: Oh, I couldn't wait to get rid of my first car. '91 Subaru Legacy Sedan that had essentially been totaled by my dad since he used it as a work truck for like three years and kept the trunk loaded with somewhere in the area of 300 lbs of tools, thus completely ruining the rear suspension, the driver's seat had been completely worn out, to the point where you could grab the metal frame inside it, and neither the radio or AC worked (and AC is rather important in an area where it regularly hits 105 in the summer). Then after I'd been driving it for about two weeks it got totaled in the school parking lot, not totaled in the "doesn't run, need a new car" way but the "$3,500 worth of sheetmetal damage to a $1,500 car"... It was driven that way, unrepaired, for another year before youthful over exuberance and a brake failure ended it up in a ditch, properly totaled this time.
@TexanIdiot25- we're boned....: I know you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a pickup truck in Texas, but how many other pizza delivery drivers there are rocking full-size pickups?
@Tomsk Яespects the BuЯbeЯЯy BanhammeЯ: If your smart, not many. I only know of 5 out of the 5 different stores (of all companies) that deliver in my area. I'm the only classic though.
@.357: You'd break the current record of $27 just for the truck (on top of the average $5 from the delivery). I'm conveniently located on the wrong side of the US for your record, sadly.
@Jon: I think that *maybe* out of our area. I'll check with my manager.
I think every young man should be required to deliver pizzas. Doing that pretty much dictated my life.
See, I married the manager of the Domino's Pizza I worked at. But not before I hooked up with all the transient hotties that worked there prior to leaving for college. Oh, and 98.5% of all pizza delivery drivers smoke weed. So, I got plenty of ass, weed, and a wife out of the deal. win/win
I think this is great, and i am impressed that he loved the car so much (I too love the split bumpers)- but the "search" is definitly all publicity.
Think about it- If you really wanted to find a car you owned how hard would it be to hire a PI to go out and follow the trail of ownership up to current and find the car?
Not difficult. And it would cost less than 25k to do it.
@Adidac425: Unless it was long enough ago that the DMV has purged the records and/or it went across a state line without showing up on the records at another state.
Also if he doesn't have the old VIN that complicates it immensely.
@Prince Alfisted und Autobus: You got ripped off yesterday; (although the chosen comment was good) and if one of your comments doesn't win COTD today, then the whole thing is a sham.

And I guess once again I throw off the curve, because the '70-'73 Camaros are the only examples of the breed I even look twice at.
