Nice car, but no match for the many great cars in the same segment with similar price tags.

That said, it is a jaaaaaaaag.

It's a poor workman who blames pedestrian safety regulations for his awkward front bumper.

Every time I see a new Jag I think how much I'd love to have an old one - a Series II XJ12, especially. The company really did lose its soul sometime around 1990 and has never gotten it back.

Also consider: Waiting one year, at which point you can probably find one for half price.

I know it's not great, but it is charismatic and pretty, and if I had the money to buy a 2+2 in this class for a daily driver, I'd look long and hard at a XK8/XKR coupe, in British Racing Green.

I'm glad they haven't solved all the problems. I fully expect to pick one up for a song a few years down the road.

So it looks like teenagers in a UK sound shop installed the rear speakers. Which one was it, Bowers or Wilkins?

I've heard Clarkson prattle on about how "desperately pretty" this car is, but as you pointed out, has some problems. It wasn't groundbreaking at all when released, and has aged and grown dull very quickly...in photos, anyway. Every time I see one in person (usually a car show), everything changes.

And the satin-finish plastic trim has to go, period. It doesn't even belong in a Rio; it's a surface reserved for dollar-store boomboxes made by companies you've never heard of.

Finally, if something isn't broke - like a goddamn automatic shifter - don't bloody fix it. Especially with a dial that according to C&D (fairly reputable journalists), often gets stuck between two modes, "leaving you with no gear selected at all." It's cute but utterly pointless (though not as pointless as retractable vents, which this doesn't seem to have, thank goodness.)

Is Jalopnik reviewing cars with massive amounts of power to distract us from how bad the new review layout is? Yes. Yes they are.

"Did Jaguar just put a bigger engine in a car that didn't need more power to make up for all its other flaws? Yes. Yes it did."

And I, for one, have no problem with that. I'm sure they'll get to the brakes in due course.

    My best wing guess:
They are only allowed a certain wing area and the low pressure bottom surface contributes more than the top surface. Therefor it behooved them to maximize the surface on the bottom.

@korvetkeith king of teh horsepowers!: Kinda sorta...They need the 'cleanest' side down so they copied the Audi R15 and moved the attachment supports to the top.

@SeanKHotay: If you explain to me what you mean by "cleanest" I am sure that we are either saying the same thing or that you have no idea what you are talking about.

My office is about 1/2 mile from Rocketsports HQ. I drive past it every day on the way to work. To say that it is *hidden* is an understatement. Anyway, I saw their *HUGE* trailer out front the other day loading in the Jag. One of the greatest ways to start your day. Now if only they'd fire it up and smoke the tires while I'm out at lunch.

Holy crap, I can't wait to see it at Long Beach GP.

Hopefully it'll fill the massive V8 Vantage shaped void left by the Baron Drayson's GT2 team.
